April 23, 200422 yr Mine won't build up enough rpm's to lift more that a couple of inches off the ground. I would like to fly this chopper but can't figure what is wrong. It runs okay at startup but no lift when I work the collective. Don
April 23, 200422 yr I don't fly the R22 very often. But I recall that the default has its weight and balance overloaded. Check that and reduce either the fuel and/or cargo then try it again. Also be sure that you're not trying to lift off from a high altitude and/or hot/humid temperature location. The R22 doesn't have a whole lot of lift capacity even in the real world. Also be sure your controller setup is calibrated correctly. If you're starting from cold engine, try instead with the heli already running and see if that helps. Good luck-Lindy :-rotor:-wave
April 23, 200422 yr Something else you might want to try when starting up is increase the collective while the rpm is building up. It is common with FS9 that if you don't increase the collective a little bit your rotor rpm won't go to 100 percent while starting. I ran into this problem a while back when I started flying helos more. Check out hovercontrol.com, there is a lot of good information there on flying the helos.
April 23, 200422 yr Thanks guys. I have tried everything I can think of and nothing seems to work. A couple times I actually flew this chopper but now I am back to square one. Don
April 25, 200422 yr I just played around with the R22 a bit to see what's going on - I'm not sure what is happening in your case, but, here are some suggestions:- make sure the Propeller controller axis is at "full", by pressing ctrl-F4. This corresponds to the twist throttle on the collective.- ensure that the throttle governor is "on" (also on the collective)- mixture full in- clutch engagedThe Low Rotor RPM light should be extinguished at this point. On my system, with real weather enabled, I'm siting on the ground at about 15" manifold pressure, with the rotor and engine needles being in the green arc. The fuel/payload puts the gross weight at 1356, which is only 14 lb. shy of max. On anything other than a very hot day (unless you're at a high altitude airport) the '22 should lift off. With my current wx and that default payload, I lift off between 18 and 21 inches of MP.I hope this helps somehow!Dave Blevins System: Asus P8Z68 Deluxe/Gen3 mobo *** i7 2700K @ 5gHz w/ Corsair H80 cooler NVidia GTX 570 OC *** 8 GB 1600 Corsair Vengeance DRAM *** CoolerMaster HAF X case System overclocked and tuned for FSX by fs-gs.com Thrustmaster HOTAS Warthog stick/throttle & CH Products Pro Pedals Various GoFlight panels *** PFC avionics stack
