January 3, 200818 yr Hi all,Before I go bonkers, or give up on helicopters completely, doesn anyone have a mission or an mpeg or somethingthat demonstrates how to land a 'copter correctly? I can take off and (at least in the Bell JetRanger) flyreasonably well, but as for landing on a specific spot, fugitaboutit. (Unless you count crashing on the specificspot). I've done the FSX 'copter missions 1-3 successfully, butonly by changing the Robinson (sp?) to a JetRanger, andeven then only by "flying" by setting to view to the tailboom. In the cabin there's not a wide enough view for meto see what I'm doing. I did reverse the axes on my joystick (AV8R) but it seemsas if I need some other control thingie, and four more arms.Any help would be appreciated, and greatly reduce the virtualdeath rate in my FSX 'copters. Thanks, dan davison --Dan "lensman" Davisonrs
January 4, 200818 yr Based on my real world experience, a couple thousand hours flying FS helicopters over the past 10 years and having helped hundreds learn to fly the FS helicopter (see: http://members.shaw.ca/Hoversafe/Hoversafe.htm ) I'd recommend you spend some time learning to hover. The better you are at hovering, the easier landings will be.Contact me, if you wish, through HoverSafe.Cal - CYXX
January 7, 200818 yr Author Hi Cal,Thanks for the advice. Will do on the hovering. A question aboutHoversafe - it doesn't appear to be active. I tried to register, but the person to register with does not have a working email address. Is the organization still active? Also, all of the lessons are for FS9 and before. Do you know if the lessons will work with FSX, or are there FSX versions somewhere? Lastly, it wasn't clear to me how to contact you through Hoversafe. There didn't seem to be a member's forum or message system.I noticed on the "Links" page "Hovercontrol" and that looks promising too. Thanks for the help!dan --Dan "lensman" Davisonrs
