May 10, 200224 yr Bonjour,So far, I am planning my PIC767 or PSS flights with the FMC, trying to keep my navdatabases as updated as possible. I am wondering now if I should better use a Flight Planner:-1- what free flight planner would you recommand to work with PIC767, PSS, Radar Contact, FSMeteo?-2- how many navdatabases do I need? One for the Flight Planner, one for each FMC....Is there any way to get rid of so many navdatabases that need to be updated periodically?-3- what happens if I import a flight plan built (with a flight planner)with waypoints not known in the FMC navdatabase?-4- Is it really a plus to use a flight planner compare to the use of the FMC?Bien amicalementMichelKSEA
May 11, 200224 yr Hi Michel,-1- If you're looking for a free flightplanner, try FSBuild (do a search on Google and you'll find the website). For getting close to real world flightplans, register with www.fltplan.com , which is excellent for US flightplans.-2- Unfortunately you'll need all the different databases, as they're all in different formats.-3- I'm not quite sure, I know in PIC that waypoint is just left out.-4- It may save a bit of time, but you'll have to program all the performance data into the FMC anyway, so it might not be that significant. Shareware planners like FSNav are useful for aircraft without FMS, as it connects to the autopilot and acts as an FMC (not possible with PIC - it would take away the realism as well). If you're mainly flying PIC and PSS, I'd stick with FSBuild and use real world data found on the web.Hope this is of use to you,Cheers,Gosta.
