Recommended Posts

Since Im going through my instrument training I really should know this, but I think its only certified on CATIII, maybe II also...but I am pretty sure that CATIII MDAs or DHs take you almost right down to the runway.Craig

Speaking of DCA...is there a fix for the ILS 1 approach? I've tried editing it in AFCAD and the other program that does this sort of thing.

Oh yeah, I forgot to add....one of the ILSs at CMH is all messed up. I believe its 9R, but not sure since I dont fly there all the time. This is one thing that I would definitely say needs a patch released for just like FS2000 did, because there arent that many people that know how or have the time to use a program to correct ILS signals.Craig

"In order to land legally for most Cat I Instrument Landing System approaches, besides the usual visibility conditions, some part of the runway, its lighting or its environment must be visible when you're roughly 200 feet above the ground (and therefore a few more hundred feet from touchdown). Cat II`minimums' are lower, Cat III lower still. Furthermore, for air carriers, operation is only permitted with certain values of `Runway Visual Range'. Special crew and aircraft certification is required for Cat II and III, and certain modes of operation are mandatory."http://members.telocity.com/~geof43/Geofdog2.gif

You can't fix the actual navaids with AFCAD. But there is a fix for KDCA ILS runwy 1. The name of the file is navaids1.zip. It fixes a bunch of navaids. I don't remember where I got it though.
