November 24, 200322 yr I'm not sure if any operators use the B777 on this route, it may be too long. Does anyone know of an ETOPS route for the above trip? Even one way would be great.Thanks,Bruce. ASEL, Instrument. KBJC, Colorado.

November 29, 200322 yr I think United operated the B772 on the SYD-LAX route for a while. And one of their aircrafts even had to shut down an engine inflight, meaning that they flew for around 3 hours on one engine before landing at HNL.
November 29, 200322 yr Author Thanks KD.As I recall, the engine issue was a flight from NZAA (when they were still flying there). Just made it for the 180 minute ETOPS, it must have failed at the worst point in the ETOPS flight plan.Bruce. ASEL, Instrument. KBJC, Colorado.
November 29, 200322 yr Helloit was the 17 march 03 nzaa klax and they diverted to kona hawaiiit was said that they flown 192' on one engine but nothing official and cant find any infosthe flight is ual 842see youphil
November 29, 200322 yr Author Hi Phil,Thanks- so it was over the 180 minutes. Interesting. I wonder if that's why they fly the B744's to YSSY now? (UA no longer serve NZAA, but use ANZ as an alliance partner.) Of course the B744 carries more pax and is not required to fly ETOPS routing.Thanks,Bruce. ASEL, Instrument. KBJC, Colorado.
November 30, 200322 yr hello bruce, the four engines was the only one who didnt get to apply rules before etops when dc10 and l1011 came they created special rules for three holer...then in the 80's etops then erops...anyway even a 747 is limited have you heard about cargo fire...!!!so if not etops there is the etp infos on flights even 747...not always documented but you can see on tocart posting that at least 744 bAW are using ralt... there is certainly a reason...i have some olds air pacific flightplans and in this aerea there is alwasys etp scenarios...anyway it was a great trivia to create those plans without 207' etops rules ...truly yoursphil
