February 4, 200422 yr I'm aware that inter-island shuttles use the 732s. But because its such a beautiful flight from LHI to HNL and other locations; and I'm so fond of the PMDG 737NG...these kinds of short flights fit well with my work schedule. According to the flight plans I've found here no sids or stars are used, at least as far as I know. Do Hawaiian carriers use FMC? How do they typical program them e.g. Lihue to Honolulu?John FranklinVictorville, CA
February 4, 200422 yr Hi John,Hawaiian carriers use a FMC in their aircraft (even the 737-200's), but I guess that when weather permits they fly the aircraft by hand. :)Anyway, they'll always file a flightplan, for example:AAH234 PHLI-PHNL B732/M EOBT/2245N0399A150 V15If they fly the route as filed, ATC will vector them onto the V15 after takeoff (radial 110 outbound LIH VOR 113.50 if I'm not mistaken), after which the aircraft proceeds direct BOOKE and sometimes to SHIGI. After the last fix (BOOKE or SHIGI), ATC will give vectors to the runway at PHNL. So if you want to program your FMC, you only have to enter BOOKE and/or SHIGI...Cheers,http://home.planet.nl/~duijn181/cu2/koen.jpg
February 4, 200422 yr Koen,Thanks. I setup the flight using MCP following the O/B radial 110 and flew the plan as you presented it to me. Perfect. John Franklin
February 5, 200422 yr >Hawaiian carriers use a FMC in their aircraft (even the>737-200's)I just got back from Hawaii a few weeks ago and stopped in the cockpit of an Aloha 732 after flying OGG to HNL and was chatting with the captain and got my pic taken :)Anyways, since most of my simming takes place in the islands I asked him about routing, its all vectors he said... and the 732 had no FMC on board, its all old school instrumentation on that aircraft (hte one I was on anyways) I even made the mistake of what I thought was an FMC, he said nope thats only for weight calulcations. He also said they have their own company approach standards as I commented on the EXTREMELY tight right visual approach to 8L.. he said its all company approaches.Really nice guy though for taking time with me.Chris
February 5, 200422 yr Hi Chris,I'm quite surprised that they don't have FMC's installed in their aircraft, because I thought they had. But I just found out you're correct and they are flying them without a FMC indeed...Sorry for my wrong info John. :)Cheers,http://home.planet.nl/~duijn181/cu2/koen.jpg
