February 24, 200521 yr Whats the LONGEST flight that any airline does today?I know JFK to South Africa is long... and Air Canada does a Toronto to Hong Kong non stop, but i've done that one already... :(I need more distance!if not i'll have to resort to flying hdg 090 around the equator and see where i end up when i run out of fuel :( http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v725/Racalac/siggy.gif[bold]Specs:AMD 64 3200+Gigabyte GA-K8N SNXP9391.5 GB Samsung DDR400ATI 9800 Pro2x 160GB SATAetc, etc, etc :(
February 24, 200521 yr Samy is correct... KJFK-WSSS a distance of 8475nm using a great circle route. The route passes almost directly over the North Pole, which would be problematic for Flight Sim to handle. Here is an older article that mentions the KLAX-WSSS and KJFK-WSSS routes. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/3194014.stmCurrently, the A345 has to be stripped down from 313 passengers to 181 to allow for the extra 5,100 gallons of fuel to complete the WSSS route. That will change in January 2006 when the Boeing 777-200 LR enters service. The New York to Singapore non-stop will be flown at full passenger capacity plus revenue cargo. http://www.strategiy.com/inews.asp?id=20050216024036Bruce
March 29, 200521 yr Just a bit of clarity: SQ doesn't fly into JFK, they fly to EWR. Also, the cabin was stripped down at the request of SQ in order to provide Economy Plus & Biz class, the only two classes that would actually pay to fly such a distance non-stop.
