February 3, 200620 yr Hi Koen,Thank you very much for your prompt replies to my requests re real-world flight planning and payload data. What would we do without your generous recommendations :) Seriously, it seems that you're always here with brand new tips and tricks :) If possible, I would like to go back to the previously asked questions and ask some more to clarify the situation. First off, you asked me to contact you in private if any further question arises. How can I do that? It seems that you don't have any contact info left on Avsim forum.Secondly, I'd like to continue our discussion regarding real-world flight planning and payload data, if you don't mind. REAL-WORLD FLIGHT PLANNING:As I mentioned earlier in the post I don't feel comfortable with currently available on- and offline flight planning resources such as the RouteFinder. Instead, I often use CFMU which helps me to validate the route rather than to plan something. Another problem is FSBuild. Well, it allows airway selection but it's definitely not a tool for selective flight planning. Also, its ActiveSky support provides only winds aloft data for the pre-defined (like copying and pasting the route from RouteFinder) waypoints. Therefore, I cannot, for example, select another waypoint say with less severe winds. This and similar flight planners do not also allow planning routes beyond restricted areas, select desired waypoints (like FSBuild), etc, etc,.......... I've also checked the payware planners as per your recommendation (UniversalWeather, www.danur.com). Although I didn't purchase them yet I think they're just sort of software to ease the route planning rather than allowing "manual" planning. But maybe I'm wrong, anyway.Keeping short, I would like to start planning manually. Are there any pre-requisites to go on with this? What kind of knowledge do I need to start? Any tips for a newbie? I also know that AviationWeather.com, www.notams.mil, etc. maybe helpful for flight planning. That's all! I'd very appreciate your support. You mentioned about aircraft performance documentation. Are they suitable for a starter like me in terms flight planning? Can I also have copy/ies of them?REAL-WORLD PAYLOAD DATA:I've visited www.acarsd.org. Thank you for the link. Although I was there for just 20-30 minutes I have downlaoded some ACARS messages BUT I didn't understand anything and didn't find any payload data. Am I doing something wrong? Is it required to install ACARSD Decoder to read the downlaoded TXT messages?Thank you very much again.Rustam Regards,Victor Quebec
