ACARS & Individual Aircraft Movements

Featured Replies

Hi all,I have asked this question several times but never could get any useful answer. The quesiton is that I'm trying to find any information about individual aircraft movements. To keep it simple, I would like to know where a particular aircraft is and what it (or the Captain :)) is going to do next after arrival: e.g. For the aircraft w/ reg. number N111XX (US) and doing a flight from KJFK to KLAX, I want to know where it is after its arrival to KLAX? What does it do at KLAX after arrival - 1) waiting for ATC instructions for a return flight to KJFK?; OR 2) awaiting an instruction from its own airline company to prepare for another flight, let's say, to continue from KLAX to KMIA now?I've been advised to check www.acars.de to follow individual aircraft by their registration numbers at any time of the day. But I had and still have problems with understanding (decoding) ACARS data. There are many links to other sites (probably to track aircraft flying in Europe or between US and Europe). The ACARS software is also quite complicated for a newbie like me. So, I would be grateful if anybody could help me to get information about Individual Aircraft Movements and help with ACARS. BTW, is ACARS worth using to get such information?Regards,Rustam

Hi Rustam,The sequence of flights for a specific airframe is usually known weeks before, and the pilots have a duty roster to know which flights they're expected to be on. Of course an airline can change the schedule for a specific aircraft at any time, for example because of delays or when an extra charter flight has to be flown, but that's generally how it works. Please check your e-mail... :)Cheers,http://home.planet.nl/~duijn181/cu2/koen.jpg
