I've just purchased an EFIS panel from for CSI and much to my surprise and discontent, the darn thing is as bear as a two dollar call girl. I was just expecting a simple hook-in of some sort. :-hmmm Now I know that is not fair for all the people in this forum who have devoted more than just their sparetime in the programming and wiring that's involved, but there's not even a single wire attached.I see now, indeed there is more to it than meets the eye. All attempted calls to CSI for supports have went unanwsered. So I come to you for help. At prepurchase, I was told that it could connect to Aerosoft's 747MCP through one of their expansion ports. I currently have both of these products and I am running FS2002 with Wilco767 for my 767-400 cockpit simulator project. I am clueless when it comes to electronic diagrams and wirring and rotary encoders but I am a fast learner and willing to go the distance to make it work. I have used nothing but multi monitors and pre-built products. This is the first challenge incurred. If some one could just point the way and a few simple directions on how to interface the items and what it takes to make this work, I would really appreciated it. It is just sitting in it's place with the backlight, collecting dust at the moments and it saddens me to watch it. I was thinking going directly into mcp747 through db15 ribbon cable. may sound crazy, but that why I need all the help I can get.

Oh boy... I know how you feel.If you want to wire it to an expansion port on the 747MCP, you'll need a pinout diagram of that particular port and possibly some example instruments that do connect to the port. After you nail that, then you'll need to figure out how to wire all those switches to it. Chances are you be wiring it up in sort of a matrix fashion with rows and column. Not to worry.. it's easier than it sounds.But.. that is aways away.. You need to first get that pinout.Ray

By pin out I hope this is what you are talking about. My efis is just sitting there collecting dust and it troubles me. please have mercy and help me as much as you can.Joystick Inputs - DB15 ConnectorsPin MCP Joystick Port Standard IBM PC Port Definition 1 Analog common XY1 (+5V) 2 Switch A1 Switch A1 3 Variable Resistor AX Variable Resistor AX 4 Scan for all switches A1 Ground 5 Scan for all switches A2 Ground 6 Variable Resistor AY Variable Resistor AY 7 Switch A2 Switch A2 8 Analog common NC or +5V 9 Analog common XY2 (+5V) 10 Switch B1 Switch B1 11 Variable Resistor BX Variable Resistor BX 12 Scan for all switches B1 & B2 Ground 13 Variable Resistor BY Variable Resistor BY 14 Switch B2 Switch B2 15 Analog common NC Notes:Up to 4 100k potentiometers can be connected to each joystick port. They are connected to pins labelled variable resistor at 3,6,11 and 13. Each potentiometer must also be connected to its respective ground on pins 1,8,9 and 15.Each joystick port on the rear of the MCP can accept 4 direct switch inputs without the need for diodes. Hey Ray,I would really appreciate your help. thanks

You may like to go and take a look at www.glideslope.de under his cockpit project page he has a tutorial on keyboard encoder. He has bought the CSI Eicas card and although he is hooking it up to a hagstrom encoder it does give you a good idea on how to wire everything up. As for which wire goes where for the 747mcp, it may be best to get in contact with Andrew Mclean or post in there forum or wait until there expansion board is released.CheersGaz
