Hi David,it should be in your mail...Good luck,Hans

Hi Hans, after two nights reading your EPL code I want to tell you that I've learned much EPL programming with your comments that hundreds of pages of EPIC manuals.Thank you very much to share the files with the simbuilder community.Kind regards,David Tremoleda

David, glad I could help!During the long nights I spent trying to make sense out of all that EPIC stuff I decided to try and make things a bit easier for others - thus all those comments in my code (and of course, for me to remember the next day what in heaven's name I had been thinking when I wrote it...LOL)BTW, I'm not a programer. epl is the only computer language I know ;-)HansPS about my code: Just found out last nite that my landing gear routine does not work. Have to check it...

I'm lost. I now have an EPIC, an EPIC expansion card, and a ABA and some 64BTNs (for those even less in the know, the last two items allow you to use screw terminals for buttons and not mess with diodes). So I have wired up my first switch and it is recognized in epicenter as module 1, button 0, row 0. So far so good. Not having a clue, I've loaded button example2 and have figured out my button is sending and/or being interpreted as CTRL-TAB. I can't figure out in the button example2 where CTRL-TAB is defined, or even how they define what a button does (looks like what a button does is commented out if I'm reading right.. which I can't be *grin*). (note: why am I jumping to button example 2? ...It's the only example that came with my EPIC).Can anyone get me a simpler example for say a single button?(of course, it'd be nice if there was some documentation along the lines of the Cougar's "Foxey" software *grin*)I wish they'd sent me a book for beginners. (actually I wish they'd sent me ANY book). It seems the PDF's I have, can/could get me over the hump as far as figuring out a module/row/button, but assume I'm a programmer and know what to do with that information. (many years ago I could program a mean batch file, beyond that *gasp*)Even the button example pdf is confusing... it mentions a SPST switch (I'm going to go out on a limb and assume that is single pole single throw as I've heard the term, but am not an electrician and don't really understand what it means). It then refers me to button3 example, which is labled SPDT (single pole double throw?) and shows a two position switch with only two wires connected.*argh* Methinks these folks have been at it too long to remember how to look at it from a cold and ignorant position for the first time. Little things like, instead of "SPDT" and "SPST" how about "two position toggle," etc? (or even have the mention and graphic match *grin*)Okay, I'm done venting for the moment... until I become frustrated looking at this again. *grin*

Addendum... I've found an epic manual in PDF form on the net, but it appears to be for an earlier card. Shouldn't I have received an actual manual of some sort, even if in PDF form? (no "manual" to be found on the CD or in the installed EPIC docs directory... just; buttonexample2.pdf, syntaxusb.doc, operators.doc, and updatenotes.doc).

Hans:I'm trying to write an EPIC document for the community. If you wouldn't mind sharing your "well commented code", I would appreciate it, since it would help me understand some parts of EPL I may not have figured out.

No problem! There are no secrets in my code, so feel free to use it in your manual. You can find it on my website www.hanskrohn.comJust mention my name and my site.I'll update the main epl file tomorrow, because I found that the landing gear (above all things) did not work. So pls wait a day before you download.Good luck with the manual!Hans

True, the EPIC docs suck. I recommend you check project epl files from other people who have gone through the same ordeal.Mine are on www.hanskrohn.comTake a look at the device descriptor file. That concept is specially difficult to grasp, but I made a lot of comments in mine to help beginners.Good luck,Hans
