Ooer, psychedelic textures ...

Bunged the 41.09 Nvidia drivers in my XP Home based system this week. Install was straightforward and I think I am getting better FPS; but that may be wishful thinking. However, what I am getting occasionally are multicoloured textures instead of bitmaps on some aircraft and, more rarely, on scenery polygons. I have DirectX 8.1 and a couple of GeForce 2 MX cards (100/200 64MB, 400 32MB).This is a ddraw.dll problem, right? Or not? What to do, blue?Mark "Dark Moment" BeaumontP.S. Please don't tell me to buy new cards. If that were to be necessary to solve this issue, I'll just revert to previous drivers. Thanks.http://www.swiremariners.com/cxkaitak.htmlhttp://www.swiremariners.com/reds.htmlhttp://www.swiremariners.com/cxkaitakv3.jpg

Revert, DM. The 41.XX drivers were crap for me with my Ti4200. Back to the blurries. I'm still using the 30.82's which seem to be fine, and have been better than a number of 'upgrades' that I have tried. Of course, different systems mean that results may vary. This constant driver changing is crazy. Been there, done that. Thank god for "System Restore."

Thanks, Edam. I will revert, I think. Can't share your view on 'System Restore', however; I have only resorted to it once but it removed many critical files from FS. Not knowing WHAT had been removed was the worst thing.Driver updates have always ruined my day, and this is obviously just one more. Shall stick to what I know works in future. Yeah, right!Mark "Dark Moment" Beaumonthttp://www.swiremariners.com/cxkaitak.htmlhttp://www.swiremariners.com/reds.htmlhttp://www.swiremariners.com/cxkaitakv3.jpg

Yes, same for me. The 30.82's are rock solid and I always end up going back to them.BobG

That's interesting because I've never had a problem with it. Of course, that goes back to the "differnet strokes for different folks" thing as far as systems are concerned.>Driver updates have always ruined my day, and this is >obviously just one more. You don't have to use system restore - you can use the 'roll back' option to use the last set of drivers for a device. That's how I returned to 30.82 anyway...

Interesting how things cn turn out so differently. Only a couple of weeks ago, I was writing about good response from the 29.42. Then, last week, I figured I would go for broke...and installed the 41.09...I was quite pleased and am keeping them. btw, I have a 1 gig mobo and 512 megs of ram....Sherm

Mark, try turning off Transform & Lighting. The GeForce 2 in combination with some drivers might have problems with T&L, resulting in the effects you describe. Jaap Verduijn.
