"Gradual " cloud transitions....

Featured Replies

I did a flight yesterday from KSEA to KSFO and everything worked great with ActiveSky. Clouds looked really neat. Although I seemed to get a steady overcast most of the way, I hit a few spots where it trasitioned to a Broken layer. I did notice that I got the immediate overcast layer a couple times as I flew over this broken layer. There was not a gradual transition by any means. I have everything set in FSUIPC just as indicated in the manual. Is this something that is not supposed to happen or are there cases where you will still see this?? It's not a big issue but was just curious about it. Otherwise it seems to work great. I especially like the feature that decreases the visibilty when it is raining.

Hi, yes SOMETIMES the transition BKN-> OVC and back can look a little abrupt... another FS2002 limitation that we have improved on but have not totally solved.. yet :) I am working on a new cloud texture set that will play tricks with FS2002 to improve this.. the results so far are very encouraging!-Damian

Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation SoftwareDeveloper of ActiveSkyThe next-generation weather environment simulation for FS2002!http://hifi.avsim.net/activeskyhttp://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/images/wxrebeta.jpg]
[/table://http://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/ima...]
[/table
