December 16, 200223 yr As I was installing the ActiveSky WxRe, it displayed some tips, etc.It appears that you don't recommend using FS Sky World??I was just wondering what exactly to do with FS Sky World? Do I restore the cloud sets back to standard FS 2002? If so how do you do that (I could probably look in the FS Sky World docs).. Please advise...Barry
December 16, 200223 yr Hi Barry,Actually, I do use Sky World with wxRE and the results are really impressive! I think the main points are that you do NOT use the Random feature in Sky World, and that you DO set the clouds to 100% (or nearly so, depending on what your CPU can handle). One of the beta testers (I think it was Gosta) suggested I look for a high level and a low level set that looked the best to me, install those using Sky World, then leave it be after that (you can change for each flight, if you want - this is really helpful if the day is calling for Thunderstorms but you had regular clouds installed previously). Then just run FS and wxRE and you'll get the nice effect of Sky World with the outstanding transitions that AS gives you. I did a flight into a remote section of northern Quebec yesterday where the nearest station was quite some distance away, and between the TAF processing and the nearest METAR, I had some really great wx for the entire route! Really impressive! If you really want to uninstall Sky World, I **think** it makes a backup of your original textures or clouds as it is installing itself, so check that out before you do anything further.Hope that helps.Glenn
December 16, 200223 yr Commercial Member Hi Barry,Glenn offers some good tips.. In addition, note that FS Sky World clouds are highly recommended (see Cloud_settings.txt) but that because of the variable nature of how FS Sky World cloud sets interact with wxRE, care needs to be taken as to which 3D cloud set you use (these are the cld1, cld2, cld3, etc. files). The easiest way for most users to get good consistent results is to use a default cloud set hence the suggestion. But the BEST combination is probably a careful selection of specific 3D and 2D cloud files from FSSWSE. I was once able to get a great set (from the FSSWSE selector program) to work wonderfully in all conditions but I cannot remember which one it was. You should experiment and find the best to your liking!-Damian

Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation SoftwareDeveloper of ActiveSkyThe next-generation weather environment simulation for FS2002!http://hifi.avsim.net/activeskyhttp://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/images/wxrebeta.jpg]
[/table://http://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/ima...]
[/table Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation Technologies
December 17, 200223 yr I'd be real interested as well to see what cloud sets people are using with Activesky.Lobaeux
December 17, 200223 yr Is there a way to have WxRe suggext a cloud combination based on a Metar reading? It would be cool to have it also select a water pattern based on winds, etc.Derek
December 17, 200223 yr Commercial Member Yep, I am working on that Derek! :)-Damian

Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation SoftwareDeveloper of ActiveSkyThe next-generation weather environment simulation for FS2002!http://hifi.avsim.net/activeskyhttp://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/images/wxrebeta.jpg]
[/table://http://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/ima...]
[/table Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation Technologies
December 17, 200223 yr I make use of FSW2K2 "Real Cumulus Edge set 1", and set FS2002 density to 85%.
