Just getting to grips with wxRE - a suggestion for the update. Although wxRE puts wx updates on the screen users cannot get wxRE's weather on the default ATIS either at start of flight or after updates. Similarly air temperatures as set by wxRE are shown unamended on the cockpit's instruments. It would be good to have these small features running hand-in-hand with wxRE. Damian - is it possible?gaftp

Hi I am not sure I understand..You cannot get wxRE's weather? Huh? Unamended temperatures? Not sure I follow, can you elaborate? Thanks...-Damian

Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation SoftwareDeveloper of ActiveSkyThe next-generation weather environment simulation for FS2002!http://hifi.avsim.net/activeskyhttp://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/images/wxrebeta.jpg]
[/table://http://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/ima...]
[/table

ATIS will give you the wxRE conditions and air temps do match up, but remember the temps are in C degrees. The METAR temps with a "M" in front represent a negative C temperature.

Also keep in mind that if the weather is SMOOTHING/transitioning then your current reported conditions can vary! ATIS isn't lying, the weather IS as reported but it is changing... after a few minutes it should settle especially if you have your destination FORCE in use... Thank you Damian - not surprising that you, and others who replied, are mystified.Firstly the oat. I was misled by a vc in which almost every instrument operates in real time, except one located alongside a working compass - the temperature gauge. A case of being 'led up the garden path'. I acknowledge that wxRE's temperatures are, indeed, faithfully recorded. I admit I should have checked on another aircraft but the illusion was very persuasive! The atis facility I'm looking for is probably unrealisable. This is being able to select a distant airport's atis to check its weather - the data are in the metar or taf - but I think that's answered in Damian's reply - it must already be active weather.gaftp

Hi,Concerning the ATIS.. yes, but you can still use FLIGHTWATCH and get the METAR/TAF text for your current and destination weather... Remember to keep an eye on the TAFs if you are using TAF processing/dynamic mode... the TAF data may be more indidicative of the conditions you'll encounter when you finally get there. :)-Damian

Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation SoftwareDeveloper of ActiveSkyThe next-generation weather environment simulation for FS2002!http://hifi.avsim.net/activeskyhttp://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/images/wxrebeta.jpg]
[/table://http://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/ima...]
[/table

Thank you Damian - I've checked out FLIGHTWATCH which, obviously, you had already built into wxRE as a replacement for ATIS, and it operates just as you describe. Although I had read the manual (honestly) that one just hadn't registered. Thank you also for your forbearance - some developers are tempted to reply, "Why don't you read the ******* manual!".gaftp
