Automating FSUIPC settings for wxRE?

Featured Replies

Hi DamianTwo thoughts... 1. I notice in quite a few threads, there is a need to check whether FSUIPC settings are correctly set. Might it be a good idea for a future release of wxRE to ask at install (or upgrade) if the user wants wxRE to automatically edit FSUIPC.INI to the appropriate settings? (Maybe saving the old settings, so they can be reinstated if wxRE is uninstalled?). This might save some user induced "errors"!!2. I saw in a thread recently that a user had got the "update METAR on new station" checked, and I think the conclusion was that it would override smooth transitions. If correct, and as smooth transitions are pretty important to many users, could the descriptive label for this checkbox make this "side effect" clear? Again, it might help users.RegardsAndy

Frankly speaking; none of these "errors" would occur if users spent five minutes reading the first few pages of the excellent manual or just looked at the screenshots in the manual which show exactly which options should be selected for the best results.

#1. When beta testing too many custom keyboard layouts were lost so the decision was made to A) include a sample .ini and :( document the settings that seemed to work the best. Who knows what the future might hold.

Automatic temporary control of FSUIPC options, of course! Thanks to Pete Dowson! This type of functionality is being worked on... :)-Damian

Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation SoftwareDeveloper of ActiveSkyThe next-generation weather environment simulation for FS2002!http://hifi.avsim.net/activeskyhttp://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/images/wxrebeta.jpg]
[/table://http://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/ima...]
[/table
