December 31, 200223 yr I'm having what appears to be problem with Active Sky wxREresolving the date.System:Win98FS2K2 ProActive Sky wxREFSUIPC 2.95FS2K2 settings /general set to "use system time"Active Sky options set to use system time.Active Sky UTC offset set to -10I am in Hawaii (HST / -10). The time is 15:15 local 30 December. So correct UCT is 310115.Start FS2K2. I default to "create flight". FS2K2 haswhat appears to be a bug, in that the time shown is 15:1529 December. Click on "change" and GMT is correctly shownas 01:15. Change date to 30 December.Start location is Honolulu PHNL time zone -10.Start Active Sky in online mode.Using custom METAR for PHNL / GET I seeMETARPHNL 302353Z 21007KT etc (looks OK)TAFPHNL 302353Z 310024 15008KT (looks OK)But----in the Active station section:PHNL (Dynamic) 300112Z etc.If I understand the dynamic TAF processor, this is tellingme that the weather is set for 300112Z, which is 24hours old!a couple minutes later, I look at status pageand see:FS Clock 15:16:23METAR date/time 300116Z So it appears to me that Active Sky is not computingthe correct date when GMT is in the next day.Unfortunately, the status page doesn't give anyclue as to what date Active Sky thinks UTC is.I also ran Active Sky on a Win XP laptop connectedvia WideFS and got the same results. After playing around a bit later I got a refresh, sothe METAR was 3101 something and then it was workingas expected (current METAR was shown as active).HELP!!!scott s..
December 31, 200223 yr Maybe this will help, maybe not. Keep in mind wxRE will use the newest possible weather between the METAR and the TAF.
January 1, 200323 yr If you are not already using it, get yourself FSReal Time, install and use. It solves all your time problems and correctly sets and keeps the time current, no matter where you are flying.FSRealTime is a 'free' program and available by searching the file download areas for FSRealTime.I solved the problem with incorrect local date / times / season issue by making my home town airport the default airport in FS2002.Every time I load FS2002, i have the right date, time and season.Hope this helps your issue.regards,David
January 2, 200323 yr Author Thanks. I got and installed it, and it is helpfulin showing what UTC FS thinks it has. Here is a goodone: I started up FS and it was 1500 local 31 Decon my Win 98 system. FS showed it as 1500 local 30Dec (one day old). OK, I am used to that, so I usedtime&season to set the date to 31 Dec. Then I started upFS real time, and it showed FS UTC as 0100 1 Jan 2004!!!so after I did "auto update" in the FS real time it correctedit. Unfortunately, with FS real time enabled my ATCvoice was breaking up. I didn't even try to fly /check frame rates but I assume they won't be pretty.Meanwhile, I was having all kinds of trouble gettinga good METAR download, either online or offline cycle,so I couldn't make sense out of the active METAR thatActive Sky was using.I gave up for new years and some football at that point!!!I might try loading the FS real time on a differentcomputer that I connect with WideFS. I also found adifferent time fix program that I might try as well.scott s..
January 2, 200323 yr While I agree that FSReal Time does exactly what you say it does....I have noticed a considerable usage of processor power. This, of course, results in a drop in FS2002 frame rates.Just my observation.gwillmot
