What about self editable winds aloft?

Featured Replies

Hi,will it may be possible to edit the winds aloft by hand in the near future. I just saw this feature on another weather program and found it very interesting. Also a "decode local" windows would be fine like in FSMeteo! There you can see the different winds on different altitudes. So I could choose the best altitude to fly in!Thanks and appreciate your work. Keep upLars

Hi Lars..Winds aloft for the US are already manualy editable. D/l a set of offline weather files. Winds aloft are in the *.fd file, edit this as you wish.During Beta, adding a "decode" feature, was decided against for realism, as all the info you need is displayed. Just like a real pilot you must learn how to interpret that info. Winds aloft info is already displayed so you can see what direction & strength it is at a certain altitude, read the manual & learn how to "read" the info!Enjoy!

It would be a nice feature indeed. Though as Hermit points out, pilots are trained to select the best altitude based on the data as currently provided by ActiveSky. You may be interested in a sight www.fltplan.com. On this site, once you entered departure/destination you receive an idea of the best altitude based on winds. I'm not associated in any way with this site, I just use it. Here are some pics showing a snippet.Dave Vega
