Hi, do you have ADVDISP installed? If so, make sure you have the latest version (1.94, the SECOND released v1.94).. confusing, but there were 2 versions released with the same number and the first one can cause these problems.. Thanks! www.schiratti.com/dowson.html-Damian

Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation SoftwareDeveloper of ActiveSkyThe next-generation weather environment simulation for FS2002!http://hifi.avsim.net/activeskyhttp://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/images/wxrebeta.jpg]
[/table://http://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/ima...]
[/table

Not sure what causes this... Next time it happens, can you try closing wxRE, then clear weather, and see if the winds finally reset? I already did Damian...nothing works at that moment :(But thanks anyway!Vortovor

If you are seeing this in FSMeteo as well, could it be a setting in FSUIPC ?.Maybe try disabling all the wind settings in FSUIPC and see if anything changes.http://freespace.virgin.net/philip.jeff/BAVBanner.gif

Hello, hmmm, FSUIPC.....Maby thats the case!?I will write Pete Dowson about this. Maby he has a clue?ThanksVortovor

Mail from Pete Dowson:Hello Vortovor,This is an FS2002 bug which seems to affect some folks occasionally and others not at all. It can happen with externally input weather and with FS downloaded real weather. In the 18 months I've had FS2002 I've only managed to make it happen once, and that was without FSUIPC and just with downloaded "real weather".It appears to be some problem with caching in the SIM1.DLL module. The cache seems to get stuck and never replenished. I reported it to Microsoft nearly a year ago, but they couldn't reproduce it and couldn't help. They asked how to reproduce it, but no one could do it to order. When folks who did get it happening tried to supply Flt+Wx samples showing it, it doesn't occur. It doesn't just happen that upper winds get stuck and carry down to the surface (and forever after in fact), any wind value can actually get stuck. It's just that folks don't often notice when the wind is less than itshould be. I did try to detect the condition in FSUIPC and force it to change, but to no avail. In fact the changes I put in mucked other things up so I had to remove them. You can find descriptions of this in the FSUIPC History document ("SpuriousWindFix" removed in 2.842, March 2002, added in 2.84,last bullet). The cache in SIM1.DLL is cleared if you reload a Flight or an Aircraft, and really that's all you can do to clear this. I spent many hours -- several weeks solid in fact -- last year trying to find a way round it to no avail. The other alternative is to wait for FS2004 and hope it is fixed then, though since it could never be reproduced to order it may well have got carried forward. What is odd is that it never happens or only very very rarely happens to most people, yet some, like yourself, get it quite often 1 in 8 flights?).It is evidently some sort of timing and/or memory issue, but with only about half a dozen folks ever reporting it (to me in any case) there's never been a big enough sample to work out anything common.Regards,Pete Dowson
