ActiveSky not working here...

Featured Replies

I just got the program. I think I set everything up correctly, but maybe not. The long and short of it is that the weather that ActiveSky is reporting is not the weather I'm seeing in the sim. I've installed FSUIPC.DLL and copied over the FSUIPC.INI file that ActiveSky uses (I'm not using any other program that utilizes FSUIPC.DLL). FSUIPC.DLL is definitely installed, and available inside FS2002. ActiveSky has a connection to the internet (DSL) and downloads current weather and gives me realistic weather in its briefing. But that weather is not being "transferred" to the sim.Where I look next in troubleshooting this problem. TIA.-Basil

Hi Basil,First thing to check is that this may be the normal dynamic smoothing of weather.. it can take up to 5 minutes for a new report's conditions to settle in.Other than that, ADVDISP is known to cause problems with weather communication with FS2002, and if you have this installed you can update to the newest (v1.94, second release - be careful, there are 2 versions with same #). You can get it from www.schiratti.com/dowson.html.Let me know if this helps you.. >Hi Basil, >Wow, I caught you online!>First thing to check is that this may be the normal dynamic >smoothing of weather.. it can take up to 5 minutes for a new >report's conditions to settle in. >I waited a lot longer than that. My first "test flight" was a flight from Merrill Field, AK, to Talkeetna, AK, a flight of about 65 nm. The weather in Talkeetna (PATK) is being reported by ActiveSky as SCT006 SCT034 OVC047. But PATK ATIS is reporting "10,400 scattered" and that's what I'm seeing. When I tune FlightWatch I get the weather as reported by ActiveSky.>Other than that, ADVDISP is known to cause problems with >weather communication with FS2002, and if you have this >installed you can update to the newest (v1.94, second >release - be careful, there are 2 versions with same #). >You can get it from www.schiratti.com/dowson.html. >What's ADVDISP? Whatever it is, I don't use it.>Let me know if this helps you.. Thanks Basil! Still scratching my head. Any other ideas?Thanks.-Basil

Update...It may be working now. I've left the a/c sitting on the ramp at Talkeetna all evening. I've cleared the weather, and within minutes I've got something similar to what ActiveSky is reporting.-Basil

Hi Basil,You might want to reset your default flight to use clear weather. Some people have reported problems with ActiveSky when they already had weather programmed into FS for their default flight (FS then continues to display the programmed weather instead of ActiveSky's reported conditions). This would explain why it started working after you cleared your weather in FS.Safe landings!~AndyMA825/KSFO (Meridian VA)kZAU ARTCC/STU+

Well, my "default" is always just a save of my last flight. I guess I could always (1) shut down ActiveSky, (2) clear the weather, and then save my flight. I'll try that.-Basil
