January 21, 200323 yr I recently purchased the software and am enjoying theeffects it creats. I have been using "the other" weatherapplication, but I would certainly like to continueusing ActiveSky from here on.I am also starting to experience a problem with myProject Open Sky Boeing 767 while using ActiveSky version 1.1.As I near the destination airport, (and the programappears to update/lock the weather), the airspeed indicator arrow drops down to zero. While the airplanecontinues to fly at previously set airspeed (seeing the GPS),the air speed indicator (both the analog and digital)shows zero.I did not have this problem at all before using ActiveSky,even when using "the other" weather application. This leads me to believe that the culprit is ActiveSky.Of note, when I reload the the same aircraft from themenu immediately after the airspeed incident occurs, everything goes back to normal with proper airspeed indication. Please look into this possible bug.Thank youP3-933 MHz.Windows 98SE
January 21, 200323 yr Commercial Member Hi, when flying in icing conditions (see manual for info about this), you will need to enable PITOT heat to prevent ice block of your ram-air indication. January 21, 200323 yr Hmm...Pitot heat, I didn't think about it as I have neverhad to in the past in the sim.I am a real life pilot, so I am quite aware of theicing conditions and how to manage it.Certainly, the condition I am experiencing does match with the typical sign of icing.Your comment leads me to believe that ActiveSky is more realistic than anything I have experienced in the past.I shall switch on the pitot heat from now on.Thank you.
January 22, 200323 yr Just a side-note: many panels (at least the one I use for my 767 flights) do not include a pitot heat switch. However, just because the switch isn't there does *not* mean that it's automatically turned on, or that the pitot is impervious to icing. If the switch is absent from your panel, you can (and should) still turn on pitot heat using the SHIFT-H key combination (at least, that's the default key combination).Good luck!~ AndyMA825/KSFO (Meridian VA)kZAU ARTCC/STU+
January 29, 200323 yr Hi I read this post with interest as i to suffered from this problem. I First noted it using the Ariane 737 with panel, found this post which helped me and cured the problem.Thinking the problem had gone i set up a transatlantic flight using meljet 747 using a panel i found in the librery. When i got to my cruising altitude FL370 the speed held ik,but when i changed my view the speed started to jump again, dropping down to 250 knts and then back up to over 300 knts, but would then quickly settle down, but if i held that differnet view, lets say i am in the spot view,i get told i am overspeeding. Is this a simmilar problem or do i have to do something else. Hope i explained this ok. Shaun.
January 29, 200323 yr Commercial Member Hi Shaun,Please re-read the manual about required FSUIPC settings and confirm you are configured properly. Here your FSUIPC wind smoothing is not enabled, which is causing those airspeed fluctuations during wind updates.-Damian

Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation SoftwareDeveloper of ActiveSkyThe next-generation weather environment simulation for FS2002!http://hifi.avsim.net/activeskyhttp://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/images/wxrebeta.jpg]
[/table://http://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/ima...]
[/table Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation Technologies
January 29, 200323 yr Hi damien Are you talking about the box which says "Transisition smoothed by layer". I have that set to 1 as the manual says.I am also using RC3. i dont know if that has any influence on the matter. Regards Shaun
