Poor weather transition

Featured Replies

I fly a short flight CYVR to CYQQ. This is the weather at Vancouver: -CYVR 011800Z 09005KT 15SM -SHRA FEW010 SCT018 BKN037 OVC070 08/06 A3005At 9000 I am in the clear and I am within 10 miles on CYVR. On route there is a low undercast but on entering the downwind pattern (6000') to CYQQ I see blue skies with scattered clouds and clear view of the ground even though I am within 5 miles of CYQQ, Then on long final I get CYQQ weather which is awful: -CYQQ 011800Z 29005KT 6SM -SHRA BR BKN005 OVC026 06/06 A3005 RMK SF6SC2 SLP175Why can I not get bad weather for the entire trip, as CYVR and CYQQ are only 73nm apart? From personal experience weather like this usually has cloud layers to 30,000+ feet. I am running wxRE 1.15. and the FSUIPC.ini from the active sky installation :(

Hi Ross,Sounds like everything is working as it should. You should however be using destination FORCE to keep your approach/landing weather consistent. You also mentioned scattered clouds when it was actually broken.. try increasing your cloud density settings or trying a different cloud set.
