Hi,To confirm things are working correctly, make sure you clear all wx in FS, then load wxRE, then try setting your cloud transition to 5 seconds in wxRE and find some clouds. Watch the runtime status screen and you will see the transition between densities. It should take less than a minute at this setting to transition from clear to ovc (or back) and you will see each transition. If there is a problem with this please let me know.. also confirm you are running the latest ADVDISP 1.97 (there are two 1.97s) if you use it. Damien:This is the second time I have noticed that you have mentioned "having" ADVDISP. I don't recall this being necessary to run ActiveSky. I don't have it and have not seen any problems. Could you please clarify?gwillmot>Hi, >>To confirm things are working correctly, make sure you clear >all wx in FS, then load wxRE, then try setting your cloud >transition to 5 seconds in wxRE and find some clouds. Thanks Damian, I'm not using the 'ADV display'. Also I did all the staps you say. Still the clouds buildup very fast!...sorry :(vortovor

Hi, ADVDISP is a module that presents "adventure display text" in a customizable FS window. This replaces any FS2002 text such as wxRE's status messages and FLIGHTWATCH.ADVDISP is also used by Radar Contact 3 to provide display of ATC options (it is automatically installed upon RC3 setup). The earlier 1.97 version had a problem that would prevent FSUIPC communications - which in turn would prevent wxRE from properly updating wx including clouds. This is usually intermittent. The later 1.97 fixes it. I have never personally experienced this, this information comes from many beta testers and users who have experienced and thus solved their strange wx update behavior problems. If you don't have ADVDISP installed then this doesn't apply. I keep mentioning it because it is an extremely common 'problem' that comes up in support issues, and due to the version naming, it is confusing for users to tell if they have the right one (many assume they do have the latest when in fact they do not). Hope that helps!-Damian

Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation SoftwareDeveloper of ActiveSkyThe next-generation weather environment simulation for FS2002!http://hifi.avsim.net/activeskyhttp://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/images/wxrebeta.jpg]
[/table://http://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/ima...]
[/table

The clouds buildup too fast? What is your transition setting? I suggest 30 seconds, this should give you about 3 minutes interval between overcast and clear. 30 seconds for each octa change.Remember that 1/8, 2/8, 6/8 and 7/8 is skipped when the cloud base is more than 2000ft from the aircraft (these octas are not of the proper visual coverage - an FS2002 issues. In some cases you may be seeing upper layers form with the first (clear to 3/8) being quite drastic. This depends on the type of cloud and FS2002's random cloud draw routines. Is this what you are experiencing? Try some different METAR reports (or change to different airports around the world) to get an idea of the cloud transition engine and how it works with different cloud layers. The occasional drastic transition in some cloud situations is something wxRE prevents as much as possible but sometimes limitations still prevent optimal visuals. I of course am working on further smoothing these transitions... some breakthroughs and new technology are coming very soon.If this doesn't apply and there is some other problem you are having, please be more specific about what is happening with the clouds. I suggest looking at the status window with a good view of FS2002 as well as the transitions change. Also, you may want to change your cloud set - try FSSWSE (and experiment with different sets) or the default white clouds (available here in AVSIM libraries) and see the notes about cloud settings (Cloud_settings.txt). Also confirm your FSUIPC settings are correct. Your cloud density slider in fs2002 options may also help you get better results (it depends on the cloud set in use). Let me know if this helps out!
