Hi all, Here is a copy of the FAQ document from our website. Most support issues are covered here, so please be sure to take a look before posting a support question. Thanks!Q: Can I purchase and download ActiveSky wxRE via mail or phone instead of online credit card order?A: Yes, there are several alternative ordering options available. Check for the alternative options link on the order form.Q: I am having trouble with my order and download. What do I do?A: Go to the Emetrix Customer Support site at http://www.emetrix.com/cs and they will be happy to assist you with your order. Q: How do I receive technical support?A: At www.avsim.com (Forums, ActiveSky Support). Many users and the developers are there to assist you! We would also love to hear your feedback and suggestions on future development!Q: I am having trouble getting some cloud layers to display. What's wrong?A: You may have some FSUIPC options enabled that will not work correctly with ActiveSky wxRE. This includes "Use only one cloud layer" and "Apply attempted whiteout fix". These need to both be disabled. Also, note that very thin (200 feet and less) cloud layers will not be shown depending on your minimum cloud thickness setting. These is because FS cannot correctly render any visually pleasing thin clouds (in 3d draw mode).Q: Sometimes the clouds flicker... can this be improved?A: Some systems and video cards have flickering issues when the Random Turbulence and Icing in Clouds option is enabled in FSUIPC. If you experience flickering you can turn these options off.Q: Why do the conditions sometimes not match the METAR report?A: Dynamic transitions and intelligent dynamic representation means that it takes time for the weather to form. Wait about 5 minutes and the conditions should settle in. In addition, there are random variables affecting some weather parameters to give realistic unpredictability at times. Just like in real life, actual conditions over time rarely represent the exact report or forecast. ActiveSky wxRE attempts to simulate this by occasionally (and usually slightly) varying certain weather conditions.Q: Why does the visibility go lower than reported occasionally?A: Rain and overcast visibility reduction features can be causing this. This is by design. If you prefer to always stick to the reported conditions (at the expense of lower visual quality) you can disable these features.Q: Why am I getting sharp wind transitions or overspeed warnings?A: Your wind smoothing is not enabled in FSUIPC, or the transition rate is not slow enough. Refer to the documentation for correct FSUIPC settings.Q: My altimeter jumps when transitioning different METAR areas. What's wrong?A: Your baro smoothing is not enabled in FSUIPC or the settings are not slow enough. Refer to the documentation.Q: The turbulence is too severe sometimes. Can I turn this down?A: You can edit the FS2002.cfg file (TurbulenceScale value). 0.20 is recommended for a good realism balance.Q: How can I download the software again?A: Go to the Emetrix customer support site at http://www.emetrix.com/cs. They will be happy to assist you.Q: Why are my METAR reports sometimes " (Dynamic) "?A: When using TAF processing, your processed time (system or FS depending on options) is indicating that the METAR report is too old and is thus using more relevant forecast information to simulate dynamic weather. Your time selection options may be incorrect (including UTC conversion value) or the METAR report may be too old. Double check this and refer to the documentation for more information.Q: When will winds aloft processing for the entire world be included?A: This is planned in an update (due any day now!)
