February 21, 200323 yr I get the above error message whenever I start wxRe (1.15). I have reinstalled/repaired/deleted the wx.ini file and every other "trick" I could think of...but to no avail. The error message persists... Also, whenever I start wxRe before FS2002, the "Active Wx Station" always shows DGAA..... almost like it is hardcoded, since I can't get rid of that either.Any suggestions? Damian??? :-vuurHere is what my configuration file shows-----------//wxRE configuration file - be careful with edits here[General]WXREOfflinePath = G:Microsoft GamesActiveSky wxREExportPath = G:Microsoft GamesActiveSky wxREOperationMode = OnlineDefaultOfflineFile = expcycle18Z.wxdDisableMessages = TrueExportMetars = TrueMETARUpdateInterval = 5FDUpdateInterval = 10UpdateMETAROnNewStation = TrueUpdateFDOnNewStation = TrueWindsAloftSimulation = TrueIdlePriority = TrueVATSIMMetars = TrueDefaultForceRange = 60ZuluConversion = -8RainVisReduction = TrueOvercastHorizonVis = TrueDisableForceWindUpdates = TrueTAFProcessing = TrueWakeTurb = TrueCloudTransitionInterval = 30MinimumCloudThickness = 200UseSystemTime = TrueProxyAddress = NONE
February 21, 200323 yr I went back to EMetrix and downloaded the latest (full) version of ActiveSky (1.15.0.1), dated January 20, 2003.After installation I am now rid of the above error message, BUT now I get this new error message "Error writing to export path - please check your export settings"....I have checked the export path and it is pointing to the same folder the program is installed in (ActiveSky wxRE)- it shows a wx-export.met file with 0 content.I also tried to install the program on another PC - same identical error message.Damian - HELP PLEASE!!!! :-jumpyHere is the new wx.ini file:-----------------------------//wxRE configuration file - be careful with edits here[General]WXREOfflinePath = C:Program FilesActiveSky wxREExportPath = C:Program FilesActiveSky wxREOperationMode = OnlineDefaultOfflineFile = defcycle02Z.wxdDisableMessages = FalseExportMetars = TrueMETARUpdateInterval = 15FDUpdateInterval = 45UpdateMETAROnNewStation = TrueUpdateFDOnNewStation = FalseWindsAloftSimulation = TrueIdlePriority = FalseVATSIMMetars = TrueDefaultForceRange = 60ZuluConversion = -8RainVisReduction = TrueOvercastHorizonVis = TrueDisableForceWindUpdates = TrueTAFProcessing = FalseWakeTurb = TrueCloudTransitionInterval = 30MinimumCloudThickness = 200UseSystemTime = TrueProxyAddress = NONE
February 21, 200323 yr Claus,Try this:Start up wxRE again. The error message will pop up. Click on OK. AS will start. When the first download is done go to Options and choose Offline/Preset and then click on AutoDownload and create New. Let it do its thing. Now exit AS, re-start and see if the message pops up. If it does please re-post and I'll try again.Hope this helps,Jim
February 23, 200323 yr Jim,Thanks for your reply..... after doing the above, the error message about not finding the path is gone....BUT...now the original error message "METAR or TAF report syntax error - using last good data" is back. So the program never refreshes with new data.Any suggestions?
February 23, 200323 yr Commercial Member Hi,Are you using VATSIM? There is a known problem with that (I am working on a solution). If not, please let me know the METAR text that is causing this processing error. Thanks!-Damian

Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation SoftwareDeveloper of ActiveSkyThe next-generation weather environment simulation for FS2002!http://hifi.avsim.net/activeskyhttp://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/images/wxrebeta.jpg]
[/table://http://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/ima...]
[/table Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation Technologies
February 23, 200323 yr Hi Damian,No this happens without using VATSIM.Here is a metar :DGAA 230400Z 230606 29005KT 5000 BR SCT010 BKN100 BECMG 1012 21010I have installed your software on 3 different PCs, all running W200o Pro (SP3)....all report the same error (with different metars) - The Runtime Status screen shows PARSE ERROR for METAR Date/Time..
February 23, 200323 yr Commercial Member Hi there,That text is actually the TAF, but I looked at the current METAR:DGAA 231700Z 19012KTS CAVOK 29/24 Q1010 NOSIGNotice "19012KTS" - This is something different, and is incorrect. It should be "KT". However, different countries and METAR stations have a habit of changing the way they do things depending on the mood their in :) I will add in logic for the update to handle this kind of wind report.Currently, since the report is invalid, it will throw a syntax error and keep the last data. Since you started with the 'bad' METAR, you never had any 'last data' and thus why no wx. You should be able to move to a different area and get it to work ok. Also, if you need DGAA's wx into the sim, what you can do is copy the METAR text and paste into the custom METAR area, edit it (removing the "S" in "KTS") then WRITE it. Please confirm that this works for you and we identified the problem correctly. Thanks!-DamianP.S. DGAA is the closest airport to 0/0 lat/lon, which is why you see it without FS loaded (processed FS location becomes 0/0). While FS disconnected, location is not important. If you want to try different reports you can use FORCE mode with an extended FORCE range (such as 9999).

Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation SoftwareDeveloper of ActiveSkyThe next-generation weather environment simulation for FS2002!http://hifi.avsim.net/activeskyhttp://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/images/wxrebeta.jpg]
[/table://http://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/ima...]
[/table Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation Technologies

ActiveSky will not download the data from the VATSIM server on my setup.Together, these 2 "bugs" almost drove me over the edge! :-hangThanks for your good support!!! I am once again a Happy Camper :-wave

Whent he report is invalid, you won't get the METAR to load. No way around this. Again if you want to change from DGAA just extend your force range and enter a new airport as custom and FORCE it."suggest you also mention the VATSIM problem.... Will be fixed in the update.Thanks!-Damian

Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation SoftwareDeveloper of ActiveSkyThe next-generation weather environment simulation for FS2002!http://hifi.avsim.net/activeskyhttp://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/images/wxrebeta.jpg]
[/table://http://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/ima...]
[/table Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation Technologies
