February 27, 200323 yr Damian,I'm having a serious problem trying to download weather files with ActiveSky wxRE 1.15. Just purchased and downloaded 2 days ago and have not been able to use yet.Like other users have reported, I am getting the same "error or timeout downloading cycle" message IMMEDIATELY after clicking the auto-update button. I have read the other posts and have tried EVERYTHING with no luck. I am running an administrator account in Win XP Home with SP-1, 56K dialup without a firewall (no proxy), FS2002 with FSUIPC 2.97 (both with all options set exactly as explained in the ActiveSky documentation), and I have no trouble downloading the files manually from the NOAA site. I do not use nor have I ever used AOL.Just for the heck of it, I tried to update the files using a limited user account in XP with the same ISP and the download appeared to work fine, until I received a "files can't be saved" error.Any help you could provide would be greatly appreciated, as I am at wit's end!Thank you.
February 27, 200323 yr Sorry you are having trouble so far. Under Options make sure VATSIM METARS is unchecked and try again. If this doesn't work please re-post and we'll go from there.Hope this helps,Jim
March 1, 200323 yr Commercial Member Hi,Since you've ruled out the proxy and settings issues, then it really sounds like you have some kind of folder setting problem. Confirm your offline folder is set right (you should browse to it via options screen to confirm it is seeing it ok). If this isn't the problem, try reinstalling ActiveSky to see if that clears it up. There may also be a problem with your XP security settings. You mentioned everything worked fine with limited account but files can't be saved - this would be normal if file write/create access was not granted on that account. Let me know if this helps. Thanks!-DamianP.S. if you still have trouble, send me some screenshots of the options screen when this happens.
