Destination doesn't force when no METAR for station

Featured Replies

I made a flight today from Miami to Grand Turk Island (MBGT). Using Radar Contact v3.01 the destination will not force since MBGT is not a valid METAR station. I got an error that said "METAR report not found/ID not valid." I was wondering if there is a work around for flying to airports with no METAR reports to force destination weather, or a potential update in the future to use the nearest station. Thanks for your help.kb

Hi,I am working on 'closest airport' and other flight-plan-aware features for the next version... This requires a new module to be coded for accessing FS data. It will enable this type of RC3 scenario and accompany other very cool features. For now, there is a workaround.. just find the closest reporting METAR station to your destination (if you don't know what this is, go there in FS and see what wxRE finds), and enter this in the custom/destination box AFTER RC3 initializes or changes destinations.Hope that helps!-Damian

Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation SoftwareDeveloper of ActiveSkyThe next-generation weather environment simulation for FS2002!http://hifi.avsim.net/activeskyhttp://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/images/wxrebeta.jpg]
[/table://http://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/ima...]
[/table

Thanks for your quick response, Damian. I will give your suggestions a try next time I fly. Active Sky is a super product and you provide great support to the users here. Thanks again, and keep up the good work.
