FS Flight Max Cycle Files Not Downloading

Featured Replies

Hello!I upgraded to Active Sky Wxre version 1.6 today and am having a bit of a problem. If I use Active Sky without Flight Simulator 2002 Pro running, Active Sky will download all the weather files and cycle files for FS Flight Max (version 1.4R).However, when Flight Simulator is running and I go to Active Sky, it downloads the METAR reports for the departure and destination airport but not the winds or the cycle files for FS Flight Max.I un-installed Active Sky and re-installed it, but I had the same problem.Active sky will NOT even attempt to download the cycle files for FS Flight Max when Flight Simulator is running. (Yes, I do have the checkbox enabled in the options section related to FS Flight Max).Any suggestions?ThanksScott

Scott,A few things to try. First, go to FlightMax and get the released version of 1.4. If I understood you correctly, you still have the older issue. Second, under wxRE Options, do you have a path typed in for wx Export Path? Get back to us here if this doesn't work.Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Support

Hi Jim.I do have the release version (1.4R) of FS Flight Max installed. I had downloaded it Sunday. Also, my wx export path in Active Sky Wxre is set to I:ActiveSky Wxre, which is the directory where active sky is installed and where I have FS Flight Max pointing at to get the Active Sky cycle file weather from. The problem is that if Flight Simulator is NOT running, then Active Sky Wxre 1.6 downloads the cycle files after the Metar and wind files have been downloaded. However, when Flight Simulator IS running. Active Sky downloads the metar information, but always gives the message that the winds data is not valid or something and nothing else happens. Active Sky doesn't download any cycle files for FS flight max. I have tried this at several different major airports. (KCOS, KDEN, KGEG, KSEA). I can click the refresh button and the same thing happens. NO winds or cycle file downloads occur. If however, I shut down flight simulator, then click refresh in active sky, the program will then download the wind data and the cycle files for FS Flight max.I'm not sure why this is happening. I did not have this problem until I upgraded to version 1.6 of ActiveSky Wxre. With the prior version, the cycle files downloaded just fine when Flight Simulator was running or not.If the winds data doesn't download due to the winds timeout error, will the cycle files still download? Just a thought since there was a change to how the winds data is detected in version 1.6.Also, I have the latest version of FSUIPC installed (2.9.7.4).Thanks,Scott

Scott,I will look into this. There may be a critical error occuring during the winds download, ending the entire update process. The reason you are getting different results between FS running and not may be because of the location. If you start FS2002 and go to DGAA, (the default non-fs location) you should not get the error if this theory is correct. There were some server problems over the past 48 hours that may be causing this.-Damian

Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation SoftwareDeveloper of ActiveSkyThe next-generation weather environment simulation for FS2002!http://hifi.avsim.net/activeskyhttp://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/images/wxrebeta.jpg]
[/table://http://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/ima...]
[/table

Thanks Scott for all the information. As you can see, Damian saw your post and is looking into this. I have a bunch of things to do tonight so I probably will not be able to fly. Keep us both informed. I know everything works together because I had it all working Sunday night!JimActiveSky Support
