Continued Un Usual Weather Report

I posted this occurance a few weeks ago and have been monitoring it since then. Essentially I experience thunderstorms while flying oer St Pierre between Nova Scotia and Newfoundland. This is the most recent data I recorded but have experienced this on a regular basis. Outside (SAT) temperature was -31 at an altitude of 21000.LFVP 2 772Z 231206 22015KT 9999 SCT025 BKN080 TEMPO 1306 8000 RA FEW018 SCT020 BKN080 PROB30 TEMP BQIPY RPPP TSRA FEW015 SCT020CB BKN050Please note I know very little about weather but consider this re occuring event to be unusual and report it incase there is a bug.Have just DL Version 1.6 upgrade and I'm looking forward to trying it out to see if I get the same results.bgoodwin

Hi bgoodwin,if you downloaded this TAF, it says that a 30 % chance of thunderstorm is forecast for this station. I assume that the reported TAF is a little corrupted (it happens from time to time) because instead of the forecast time of temporary change (TEMPO) to a thundestorm with rain (TSRA) there is BQIPY that has no meaning at all. Also the forecast visibility is missing (there is RPPP, most probably a typing mistake of 5000 meters). But I assume that wxRE has taken as a valid forecast the TSRA with scattered cumulonimbus (CB) clouds. If you see TS or TSRA or TSSN (with snow) in your METAR/TAF messages, then you'll probably get a thunderstorm. I don't think it's a wxRE bug.Enrico.

Hi,This was discussed before, when there is a CB string in the METAR the thunderstorms will be experienced. You didn't post the METAR string but I am assuming there was a CB cloud layer reported (Cumulonimbus). Possible the METAR station is reporting old data as well? Let me know what the METAR string is (not the TAF, which you gave in your post).
