Active Wx and Metar Report are different?

Featured Replies

Hi guys,I got some strange experiences with my last offline flights.Plz take a look:http://www.viprip.de/pic_div/wxstations.jpgDuring flight, wxRE reports an active wx station, but it claims a weather report from an older station before in the METAR line.SkyWatch reports the station mentioned in the "active wx"-line, but the weather outside reflects the situation of the station in the METAR report. Same to the green info line within the FS: it reports also the weather of the older station.Considering the winds, approaching of destination airport seems to work fine - but all cloud conditions are very different and do not refresh unless I press 'refresh', regardless if I have reached the force distance or not.The metar update interval is set to 8 minutes. Sometimes it seems that wxRE needs longer time to refresh it (Force idle is unchecked). When I press the "refresh" button, everything is going to be ok and metar line and outside weather changes to the according values in the active line.I'm using the FSUIPC 2.975 (which is declared as 2.974, if you look at the properties -??-), Radar Contact and FSSoundCarpet.Any ideas?

Hi There..It appears to be a parse error (invalid metar string)... you confirm via the status screen's date/time field. This can happen when the ideal station to fetch simply isn't providing a correct METAR format string (or is missing a report entirely). You can go to the noaa site (www.aviationweather.gov) Standard brief, METARS and pull up the report manually to verify. When a parse error is encountered the normal reaction of ASwxRE is to ignore the new METAR and leave the old valid one, as it appears it is doing in this case.Hope this helps!-Damian

Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation SoftwareDeveloper of ActiveSkyThe next-generation weather environment simulation for FS2002!http://hifi.avsim.net/activeskyhttp://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/images/wxrebeta.jpg]
[/table://http://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/ima...]
[/table

Thanks Damian, forgot to mentioned, that this picture has been shot at the early evening of 25th - not yesterday (26th).Therefore time/date should have been ok.But I will keep an eye on this issue and let you know, if this behaviour remains or disappears.

Hmm...maybe this could be the answer...?

Hi Ron,yes, you can find this info in the pdf-manual.I flew two flights with this feature unchecked and noticed a remarkable improvement of weather adjustment in terminal area. But I'm not sure, whether this is the hot spot or not.
