April 20, 200323 yr Hi DamianPlease see screenshot, shows an OAT at my crz fl of 370 of -61C, yet this is what Active Sky said I should be getting,[17903(5450):130/08/-28] [23061(7020):225/21/-39] [29401(8950):225/21/-49] [33343(10150):125/06/-50] [38172(11620):090/12/-49] [44348(13500):135/07/-52] [52921(16110):120/08/-55]These figures were the same for 4-5 mins, so I gave WX-RE enough time to correct itself, yet I should clearly have been getting -49C which is about spot on what the aloft wind charts forecast said. This happens almost all the time, very low cruise SAT's, which result in a significantly lower TAS.Any help would be grand! :-)
April 22, 200323 yr Commercial Member Hi Tom,I suspect that the SAT gauge (in the FMC) you are using is programmed to correct FS2002 erroneous temperature readings and simulates cooling of air as it moves over the aircraft surface lift areas. The temp value reported by FS2002 will always read higher with more airspeed and is only correct when you are at 0 airspeed (or as close to it as possible). Anyhow, I think AS's temp logic is throwing off your FMC's logic. Some things to check:Fly in a default aircraft, get to an altitude reported with temp, and stall the airplane. The temp reading should be within 5-10 deg (small variations are normal). With text messages turned on, you'll get a winds report every time wxRE updates the wind/temp values. If this is off let me know (it should be the exact figures reported). You need to be within 500nm of a reporting station otherwise it will be simulated and it SHOULD be different from the report. Make sure we are within 500nm (you should not see (Sim) before the winds report).Let me know what you find and we can continue to troubleshoot this..
