May 1, 200323 yr Commercial Member Hi all,RC4 is now ready at http://www.hifisim.com/wxre18updaterc4.zipThis fixes a problem with the magnetic variation conversion logic in FS wind displays. This may cause variations in ATIS reporting - and you may wish to use "Adjust ATIS reporting" option in FSUIPC.Also reduced the random variation amount in wind direction, so experienced conditions are more exact to reports.-Damian

Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation SoftwareDeveloper of ActiveSkyThe next-generation weather environment simulation for FS2002!http://hifi.avsim.net/activeskyhttp://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/images/wxrebeta.jpg]
[/table://http://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/ima...
[/table Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation Technologies

May 4, 200323 yr Hi DamianI have downloaded, installed and tested 1.8RC4I downloaded a weather set (11Z May 3 2003) and flew offline EGPK - LIMJ (about three hours)The direction of the wind was true throughout (although only three ID stations were used by the program) The wind speed offline remained about half of that on each station as displayed by winds aloft. The temperatures displayed varied with altitude, but never as cold as winds aloft reported.I actually have no problem with this as I very much like what you have been able to achieve with your program.Examples of those variations are:Winds aloft 19500' 185/53/-17As displayed panel 185/27/-2WA 30500' 185/42/-48Panel 185/21/-34WA 32500' 300/60/-57Panel 300/31/-44WA 27500' 310/62/-35Panel 310/32/-28WA 19500' 295/25/-18Panel 295/11/-2Thanks again.CheersMike
May 4, 200323 yr Hallo Mike,Where did you got the figures from ?? Is the wind coming from Shift-Z ?? The temperature is that coming from a reading on a panel gauge ??I just resently found out that when under options - settings - international, flightsim is set to metric (altitude in feet), then the winds showing with Shift-Z are in m/s instead of knots. When international is set to US system, the winds showing in Kts.If you are having a FMC, you can check in the performance page, which will show you the actuall wind with the speed in kts.If you are reading the temperature from a panel gauge saying for example TAT -21C, then this quite normal that this figure is showing a higher figure than the actual outside air temperature. TAT stands for total air temperature and is actually measuring the body temperature of the aircraft. Due to the friction between the aircraft and the air, this figure is always higher than the true outside air temperature. Also, as for the winds on the FMC performance page, you can find the actual outside air temperature.Regards,Niek
