June 18, 200322 yr Commercial Member Hi Nick,This is usually related to your sound card drivers... updating them may help. Some sound cards (very few) are incapable of playing back Windows sound (used by wxRE) while FS2002 is running due to the drivers not being updated or other limitations of the hardware (depends on the mfg). Which model sound card do you have? Hopefully the drivers update does the trick.. if not, let me know more details and I'll look into it further. Thanks!-Damian

Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation SoftwareDeveloper of ActiveSkyThe next-generation weather environment simulation for FS2002!http://hifi.avsim.net/activeskyhttp://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/images/wxrebeta.jpg]
[/table://http://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/ima...
[/table Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation Technologies
June 18, 200322 yr It's the onboard sound card in my Dell Inspiron 8200 Laptop (Crystal Audio). I've had no problems with any other add-on's playing sound concurrently with FS2002 (i.e. Radar Contact 3). I'm gonna try a re-install and see what happens.Nick
June 18, 200322 yr Damian,I've narrowed things down a bit so maybe this info will help. I Figured out that voices play fine while in "Offline" mode only. I also tried over my network and it works fine too. As soon as I go to "Online/Live" mode whether using ActiveSky on FS2002 machine or on networked machine using WideFS FlightWatch sound will not play. Is this by design?I have one additional question, on main A/S screen I notice in active weather station and also in the destination weather the word URIER"> precedes METAR info. What is that? Thanks Again,Nick
June 18, 200322 yr Author Commercial Member Hi Nick,The URIER"> is due to a recent NOAA change in the formatting of METAR reports, throwing off the wxRE parser.. this will not affect wx processing. I will fix for 1.9.For the sounds, I haven't heard of this problem before... Only working in offline mode.. Can you forward your wxre.ini? Maybe this will help shed some light on why this is happening.. thanks!-Damian

Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation SoftwareDeveloper of ActiveSkyThe next-generation weather environment simulation for FS2002!http://hifi.avsim.net/activeskyhttp://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/images/wxrebeta.jpg]
[/table://http://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/ima...
[/table Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation Technologies
June 18, 200322 yr Damian and All,The sound problem is due to that URIER">. Nick, your Offline METAR does not have that, but your Online METAR does. My Online FlightWatch has always worked until today. I can also take an Online METAR, copy everything except the URIER">, paste it into the custom write window, process it, and FlightWatch will start up.Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Support
June 18, 200322 yr I guess we'll all be waiting for 1.9 to fix it. I was thinking that URIER"> might've had something to do with it. Thar's why I asked about it in my previous post. Thanks for shedding some light on that Jim.Regards,Nick
June 19, 200322 yr >For the sounds, I haven't heard of this problem before... Actually there has been some postings about the problem. Among somebody others I have never managed to get the Flight watch voice feature to work. I even changed my sound card but still get only silence.Flight watch text information is displayed properly.ActiveSky also seems to cause some stuttering in FS2002, even when it is not downloading any data.
June 19, 200322 yr I think what Damian meant is that he never heard of anyone able to have sound in "Offline" and not in "Online" mode.Nick
June 20, 200322 yr Ok, I've tried everthing to get this working and I can't hear the weather info. It display's fine but no voices. Just did a clean install of 1.8. Any ideas?Nick Anzelino
