Possibility for SIGMET and additional METAR info

Featured Replies

Hi,Maybe I am just daydreaming but "no idea is crazy idea" ;)Is it possible to incorporate in future AS version reading of the online SIGMETs and to extend reading of the METAR past default content - after A3007 in following example (e.g. KMIA 281553Z 12004KT 10SM SCT030 BKN050 BKN300 31/23 A3007 RMK AO2 SLP182 CB DSNT N TCU DSNT SW T03110233) and also to decode TEMPO readouts?By SIGMET decoding I meanhttp://aviationweather.noaa.gov/awc/fltfldr/6443.txt contains SIGMETs for Europe. It would be excellent if you could somehow decode it and represent it for the given location. I am not sure if this is possible in FS2002 nor FS2004, but I leave that to you.As example here is sigmet for Hungary:LHCC SIGMET 02 VALID 281230/281530 LHBP-BUDAPEST FIR OCNL TS FCST OVER NE PART CB TOPFL370-500 MOV S INTSF=SIGMETs use rather standardised form and as you can see are nto difficult to understand. It would be incredible if while flying towards north east parts of Hungary one could start to see TS buildups with CB topping between FL370 and FL500, and at the same time as the time lapses to see the storm intensifying.Dream or reality?Regards!

Hi,I think something like this is possible.. it will of course take time but I agree it would be great to use this international SIGMET data - both for more intelligent depiction of weather (i.e. set tstorm cloud tops based on sigmet, bases based on metar), and also flight planning + in-flight voice/text weather advisories.I'll be working on that.. :) Thanks for the input !-Damian

Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation SoftwareDeveloper of ActiveSkyThe next-generation weather environment simulation for FS2002!http://hifi.avsim.net/activeskyhttp://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/images/wxrebeta.jpg]
[/table://http://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/ima...
[/table

Hi Damian,My pleasure to provide input for a good product to become even better.I have some additional ideas as well (e.g. windshears, jetstreams, CAT etc.):-badteethIf you want my ideas on thes topics you can contact me on CFM56_5B(at)hotmail(dot)comBest regards!

Hi, Aleksandar and Damain,Actually I have been thinking about SIGMET and windshear for a long time. If I can be of any help in further developments on these issues please include me.Michael
