August 14, 200322 yr Good evening everybody,I am more confused than ever, after reading some of the topics and replies on this forum.I am using FS9 with a registered version of both fsuipc 3.04, wideserver/wideclient and the latest version of wxRE(1.9). Tonight I found that weather didn't get updated in Fs9 so I started roaming this forum for a answer. But to no avail. At least I did find an answer but it didn't work for me.Let me picture the situation:Standing on KMFR, I start fsuipc and clear all weather. First problem because no weather would mean winds 0
August 14, 200322 yr A small update on the matter!I reinstalled Fs9 completely from scratch and look, when hitting shft z I find myself with a wind out of 340
August 15, 200322 yr Commercial Member Hi Luc,This is normal. FS2004 now reports winds in magnetic by default.. FS2002 used TRUE. The actual reports are read TRUE (METAR, TAF, Aloft reports) and spoken MAGNETIC (ATIS reports). Shift-Z in FS2004 reports MAGNETIC.In your example, 030deg true = 010 magnetic because there is 20deg of magnetic variation in your area of the world. You can consult the wxRE documentation for more details..Hope that helps!-Damian Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation Technologies
August 16, 200322 yr To add to what Damian said; I don't understand why you are using FSUIPC to clear the weather.Simply start FS9, use the Clear Weather theme to the clear the weather, then start ActiveSky wxRE or if it is already running hit the "refresh" button and the current weather will be loaded into the sim after a few minutes. You should just set the options in FSUIPC once and forget about them (see ActiveSky manual) unless you have a compelling reason to change them.
