November 24, 200322 yr Both FSMeteo 6.3 and AS1.91 cause tremendous stuttering in FS9 on my system. I do not have this problem with FS9 default real weather. Because of this I have not used AS in FS9.Are the stuttering problems eliminated in AS2?What caused them!RegardsDennis Waggoner
November 24, 200322 yr I'm wondering the same thing. It's been so long since I've used any weather add-on with FS2004 that I've forgotten about this issue.
November 24, 200322 yr Commercial Member Hi Dennis,First, AS2 is totally different, I don't notice stuttering problems! Not one reported yet during beta either.. Also note that AS2 has intelligent Update Suppression to prevent high-resource operations during critical stages of flight.Second, of the few folks who have reported stuttering with wxRE, many have been able to solve them with a number of solutions:1) New video drivers & render to texture = ON2) Updating to the latest FSUIPC3) Using FORCE IDLE PRIORITY and/or minimizing wxRE while flyingDo any of these suggestions help?Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation SoftwareDeveloper of ActiveSkyhttp://www.hifisim.comhttp://www.hifisim.com/images/as2betateam.jpg Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation Technologies
November 24, 200322 yr Commercial Member Hi James,Do you use FS2004 real wx with auto updates? If so, you most certainly notice the 15-minute pause? Or when lots of cloud layers are drawn, thing slow down quite a bit?AS2 helps solve these inherent FS2004 issues.. Update suppression prevents wx updates during critical phases of flight. Cloud layer limit forces a max number of cloud layers drawn for a certain station. This is much better than stock FS2k4 realwx/updates. The beta team responds very favoribly so far in the performance department! I think you'll be quite pleased!Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation SoftwareDeveloper of ActiveSkyhttp://www.hifisim.comhttp://www.hifisim.com/images/as2betateam.jpg Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation Technologies
November 24, 200322 yr HIFI1) New video drivers & render to texture = ON Radeon Pro 9800 Cat 3.9 2) Updating to the latest FSUIPC FSUIPC 3.12 Purchased3) Using FORCE IDLE PRIORITY and/or minimizing wxRE while flying Using AS1.91 on another computer via registered WidefSStuttering occures randomly with very syncopated 1 or 2 second intevals again this only occures with AS and FSMeteo. Also I use the freeware weather updated for FS9 weather so I have no waiting. Also I too have noticed the flasing problem. Like a strobe light very close.Again this do not occure with FS9 real weather. Sorry to bother you.Dennis Waggoner
