December 20, 200322 yr I'm in a bit of a dilemna here. I've installed AS2, but also have the new FSUIPC. Since doing so, I've experienced a couple of random CTD's out of the blue which I've never had before. One was on an aircraft that could be suspect, but one was on a machine that I've used a fair bit. One was coming in to Port Hardy BC, one was approaching STD (a VOR south of Bergen, Norway. The only common factor between the 2 was AS2, but I'm not at all ready to point the finger at AS2 at this time. I was wondering if anyone else is having random CTD's and just hasn't said anything until they've done further testing. If not, then I won't waste time doing a whole bunch of test flights to look into AS2, but will concentrate on other areas instead. If so, maybe we can come up with something we all have in common, and go from there. Thanks guys. As I say, this may be totally unrelated to AS2, and I'll update this if I find anything further.Win XP ProP4, 3.0 GHz, 1 GB Kingston DDR RAMATI 9800 256 videoSB Audigy Gamer audioFS9, default cloudsNot running Wide Client (The only "wide-client" I ever had was my ex-mother-in-law :-))
December 20, 200322 yr Moderator Hi Glenn - There have been LOTS of CTD's with or without weather relater programs of any kind. Especially in the last month - mainly due to the 'change of seasons' and the way the FS9 handles it. Other causes are usually related to scenery issues.Unless you can reliably replicate the CTD, it will be REALLY hard to track - ask me, I know - I've been chasing them for a while. Fortunately they come and go - with or without AS.HTH,Vic RIG#1 - I9 14900K MSI Pro z790 RTX 5070Ti 40" 4K Monitor 3840x2160
December 20, 200322 yr Hi Vic,OK, that corresponds to what I'm finding. I just re-flew the flight that I had the last CTD on, and it was fine. I thought in the first CTD that I had, it was due to using a Convair/CV580 panel that was really meant for FS2002, but then when I got the one tonight, I started to wonder. Frankly, it would have surprised me to find out that it was AS2, as Damian's beta testers are really sharp and I'm sure this is something that would have been worked out before the release. As far as the scenery issues, I had no add-on's for the Port Hardy crash (sounds like a headline, doesn't it? :-lol), but had the (GREAT!) latest version of the Norway airports. So, not too much commonality there. Anyway, this sounds like an FS9 issue, and one I hope settles down as the winter wears on, or MS issues a patch (yeah, is that the sun I see rising in the WEST??? :-lol) to fix that. Thanks very much for the info Vic. Appreciate the heads up. On with the flying :-).
December 20, 200322 yr Hi again Vic,Just wanted to say thanks again for the heads-up on this. I'm not sure if you know about this part or not, but there seems to be a fix out there. Check out the threads on this posting:http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho...&mesg_id=164441That has a fix (which I've installed, but not tried yet) and an explanation of why it's doing it. There's also full instructions on installation. It seems easy, is safe to do (you don't overwrite any texture files - just add to it) and fully reversible.Hope that helps you (and whoever else may need it) a bit at least. Of course, as you suggested, this has NOTHING to do with AS2.Thanks again Vic!
