December 26, 200322 yr On a couple of occasions I have tried flying out of SLC and AS2004 sets the weather for KZLC. And it's not SLC's weather. Is there any way to force SLC weather? I have flown into SLC and had the weather correct, but twice now it loaded KZLC. Anyone else having this issue? Eddie KSLC EddieKABQ
December 27, 200322 yr KZLC is classified as an Air Route Traffic Control Center.CENTER WEATHER SERVICE UNIT (CWSU): The CWSU is located within the FAA Air route Traffic Control Center (ARTCC). The Salt Lake City ARTCC area of responsibility covers Idaho, Montana, Utah, Nevada, and parts of Oregon, Wyoming, and North and South Dakota. It is the largest ARTCC area in the nation. Four NWS meteorologists provide meteorological information and forecasts to FAA controllers and supervisors to help ensure safe and efficient flight in the ARTCC area of responsibility. They provide forecasts and briefings to FAA controllers when weather is adversely affecting air traffic operations. Strong emphasis is made on such short-lived hazards as thunderstorms, low level wind shear, severe icing and severe or extreme turbulence. Meteorologists also provide consulting service to FAA management officials and may serve as instructors in weather training classes for controllers. BUT this does not explain your situation. I placed a plane at KSLC and the correct METAR was used. Let's keep a watch on this!Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Support
December 27, 200322 yr YES. I had this problem in Alaska and reported it, but I thought it was an isolated case thus suggested we ignore it for the time being. I just bumped it so it would be easy to find. The post is:http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho...g_id=6432&page=The Subject (in case that link doesn't work) is "Station Proximity Confusion" and should be nearby when you read this.Hope this starts putting some pieces of this puzzle together :-).
