December 27, 200322 yr Will AS2K4 generate random cloud icing with random icing turned off in FSUIPC?Thanks,Jason BarlowPS. I probably should ask the same about random cloud turbulence.
December 27, 200322 yr Thanks, Jim! Do you recommend running with default settings in FSUIPC.INI, or are there specific features that you think are worth enabling through FSUIPC (registered versions of FSUIPC), that will improve the AS2K4 experience?Icing effects, however, are not terribly high on my radar. My chief beef right now (as is everyone's I imagine) is wind smoothing. I've seen a number of posts which say I *should* enable route-based wind smoothing - other which say don't, because it's buggy. Some are also recommending turn off the global area writes, etc. Then there's this extended destination wind force feature which also apparently adds smoothing. I'm a little lost on what the "AS2K4" recommended configuration is for a relatively "smooth and unwindsheared" ride at 35000 feet :)Thanks!J
December 27, 200322 yr In FSUIPC Minimum Weather Defaults.Yes, turn on route based wind smoothing.Yes, turn off global area writes.Give those a try.Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Support
December 28, 200322 yr Commercial Member Hi Jason,Just to clarify about icing... AS2004 uses conditional checking for icing.. AND a bit of randomness for realism. Because FS9 has problems modeling icing without blocking the pitot tube (even with heat), we keep the icing levels low except in extreme icing situations like freezing rain and thunderstorms. FSUIPC icing should always be off...Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation SoftwareDeveloper of ActiveSkyhttp://www.hifisim.comhttp://www.hifisim.com/images/as2004betateam.jpg Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation Technologies
