December 29, 200322 yr -First one. The usual cloud/weather 'popping on or off'. I was flying along in the soup, and emerged from a cloud into the clear, and looked behind me, expecting to see a front wall, and it was CAVOK to the horizon in all quadrants. Cloud systems still seem to instantly pop in and out as a flight progresses. No smoothing or transitions at all. I never get to see clouds forming in the distance, then slowly fly toward them. Huge dissapointment.-Second one - and I am not sure this is related to AS2004 or not, but it seems a likely candidate. I only fly the Caranedo Dakota (upgraded to the 2004 version), and since I installed AS2004, it now 'locks up' after flying awhile. The behaviour goes something like this - normal to start, but after 20 minutes or so, if I try and SHIFT-5 or SHIFT-7 to access the radios or other panel buttons, the screen will freeze, and no secondary panel comes up. If I use the 's' key to leave and return to the virtual cockpit, then all is fine, but the panel I was trying to access never appears. Try again, same thing.Save the flight, quit the flight, then open it again and I CAN access them for a while, but after a short time ,they stop working again. Have not extensively troubleshooted this yet, but I will give it awhirl without AS2004 running and see if the behaviour crops up again. Only noticed this after I installed AS.Also, I can no longer access the 2-D cockpit at all - just get a bit of the screen, but no panel, and the scenery has 'frozen', however if I go past it with the 's' key I get to the VC.
December 29, 200322 yr Need a list of your settings. Best way is to copy and paste your AS2004.ini file into a reply.Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Support
December 30, 200322 yr Ok, here are my AS2004.ini settings://AS2004 configuration file[General]WindowPosX = 3555WindowPosY = 4050DefaultWeatherFolder = D:Program FilesMicrosoft GamesFlight Simulator 9ModulesActiveSky2004SuppressionCeiling = 10000SurfaceWindLimit = 10CloudLayerLimit = 10LocalSuppressionRange = 50OnlineUpdates = TrueExtendedDestinationWindsForce = FalseGlobalWrites = FalseVoicePlayback = TrueLocalSuppression = TrueStartupSound = TrueUseProxyServer = FalseFogLayerGeneration = TrueUpdateSuppression = TrueOvercastEnhancement = TrueRouteWindSmoothing = TrueLimitSurfaceWinds = FalseLimitCloudLayers = FalseDisableUpperLayerGeneration = FalseVisibilitySmoothing = TrueDisableMessages = TrueAutoTimeZoneDetection = TrueUpdateInterval = 15VATSIMData = FalseZuluConversion = -8TAFProcessing = FalseWakeTurb = TrueStartPaused = FalseUseSystemTime = TrueDisableCAVOKClouds = FalseProxyAddress = NONEAnd here are the FSUIPC.ini settings: [General]History=AMXFY6SCW6Y0Y176U91LCTCASid=FlightTCASrange=40TrafficScanPerFrame=10AxisCalibration=NoCentredDialogue=YesClearWeatherDynamics=YesMainMenu=&ModulesSubMenu=&FSUIPC ...OwnWeatherChanges=NoWeatherReadInterval=4MoveBGLvariables=YesNote that wxRE1.9 is still in my FS2004 folder (of course it had to be for the AS2004 installer to work) and there are FSUIPC.ini settings and .dlls in there. Don't know if this affects it.Tried a flight for several hours without AS2004, and the issues of not being able to access the sub panels with SHIFT-5 or others was not there. Seems to point to AS.
December 30, 200322 yr Commercial Member Hi,Confirm RENDER TO TEXTURE is off? Latest video drivers?-Damian Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation Technologies
December 30, 200322 yr Commercial Member Hi,Concerning Issue one... Can you please try with Visibility Smoothing off and let me know if that changes the results. Thanks!Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation SoftwareDeveloper of ActiveSkyhttp://www.hifisim.comhttp://www.hifisim.com/images/as2004betateam.jpg Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation Technologies
December 30, 200322 yr Damian - have Vis. smoothing off, and so far it seems ok. I have not tried extensively testing it - flying from a region of cloud to one of clear for instance - but when I fired up CYXY on today's 'daytime' METAR, it did show a front right over the field - clear sky to the south and solid overcast to the north. So far the weather system seems stable and dynamic - ie it is moving slowly, and I can fly into it, then out and look at the clouds or the sunshine on different sides of the aircraft. So far so good. I don't have the opportunity to test it further tonight - but will let it sit there for a few hours and get back to you. Thanks for the help.PS - what does 'render to texture' DO in FS? I didn't notice a difference with it on or off.
December 30, 200322 yr Damian - i also tried global writes on and visibilty smoothing off and this is working well - i have the odd pop up but nothing to write home about . Just my 2 cents Regards Rob
