December 29, 200322 yr Commercial Member Thanks for the detailed report Brian!First thing I notice is that you might be confusing the TAF string with the METAR string. The METAR string is the first line, the TAF is the second. METAR is the actual processed conditions. In the first pic, your clouds are FEW022, SCT027, which looks about dead on.In the second pic, you are 8 miles away from KOAK which is reporting SCT026, OCV033. Being 8nm away, variances are normal here.. You are actually in the global wx zone, which has already been set to the nearest station at last update, which would be KSFO (FEW022, SCT027). FS9 actually interpolates these conditions between KOAK and the global zone, so you should get something intermediate between SCT026, OVC033 and FEW022, SCT027. Again this looks about right on.Ideally to compare conditions with that reported, you should be directly over the the reporting station (or at least within 2nm of it). This avoids normal variances due to interpolation and the global wx zone.In your examples here it appears AS2004 is depicting everything appropriately, unless I am missing something?Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation SoftwareDeveloper of ActiveSkyhttp://www.hifisim.comhttp://www.hifisim.com/images/as2004betateam.jpg Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation Technologies
December 29, 200322 yr Damian,My mistake,I keep seeing the OVC line and when I think of overcast, I think that I shouldnt be able to see the ground. Let me try it again directly above KSFO and see how it looks, hopefully everything will be fine=) If not, I'll post some pictures for ya.
