Paris, friday 2 janvier 2004 12:06Hello guys ! Happy new year !This is again the frenchy guy with overcast pb... i'm now a register member on avsim forum so i'willpost also this message there in addition to my mail.I've got new screen shots now at day light !And just to be sure we are talking of the same thing :The pb is that you when you fly IN or ABOVE and overcast layer you can always see the ground even if you are 1000 ft inside the layer. That is in fact a problem of disappearing cloud... Here is some screen shots at LFOB (Beauvais airport near Paris) of AS2004 FS2004 DXDIAG Display Conf and ini files for AS2004.I do confirm i still have the pb even if i select smoothing option, global write option ect ... on or off.The attached files are the following :ONLY 4 SCREENs SHOT OF FS ARE AVAILABLE HERE BUT Damian, you have allthe others files of configuration in my mail...1- at 2000ft QNH inside the cockpit (mini instruments) with smoothing opt.2- at 3500ft QNH outside the airplane with smoothing opt.3- at 2000ft QNH inside the cockpit (mini instruments) without smoothing opt.4- at 2000ft QNH outside the airplane without smoothing opt. ini with smoothing option :---------------------------//AS2004 configuration file[General]WindowPosX = 3915WindowPosY = 4740DefaultWeatherFolder = C:Program FilesMicrosoft GamesFlight Simulator 9ModulesActiveSky2004SuppressionCeiling = 10000SurfaceWindLimit = 10CloudLayerLimit = 10LocalSuppressionRange = 50OnlineUpdates = FalseExtendedDestinationWindsForce = FalseGlobalWrites = TrueVoicePlayback = TrueLocalSuppression = FalseStartupSound = TrueUseProxyServer = FalseFogLayerGeneration = TrueUpdateSuppression = FalseOvercastEnhancement = TrueRouteWindSmoothing = TrueLimitSurfaceWinds = FalseLimitCloudLayers = FalseDisableUpperLayerGeneration = FalseVisibilitySmoothing = TrueDisableMessages = FalseAutoTimeZoneDetection = TrueUpdateInterval = 15VATSIMData = FalseZuluConversion = 1TAFProcessing = FalseWakeTurb = TrueStartPaused = FalseUseSystemTime = TrueDisableCAVOKClouds = FalseProxyAddress = NONE---------------------------ini without smoothing option :---------------------------//AS2004 configuration file[General]WindowPosX = 3060WindowPosY = 870DefaultWeatherFolder = C:Program FilesMicrosoft GamesFlight Simulator 9ModulesActiveSky2004SuppressionCeiling = 10000SurfaceWindLimit = 10CloudLayerLimit = 10LocalSuppressionRange = 50OnlineUpdates = FalseExtendedDestinationWindsForce = FalseGlobalWrites = TrueVoicePlayback = TrueLocalSuppression = TrueStartupSound = TrueUseProxyServer = FalseFogLayerGeneration = TrueUpdateSuppression = TrueOvercastEnhancement = TrueRouteWindSmoothing = FalseLimitSurfaceWinds = FalseLimitCloudLayers = FalseDisableUpperLayerGeneration = FalseVisibilitySmoothing = FalseDisableMessages = FalseAutoTimeZoneDetection = TrueUpdateInterval = 15VATSIMData = FalseZuluConversion = 1TAFProcessing = FalseWakeTurb = TrueStartPaused = FalseUseSystemTime = TrueDisableCAVOKClouds = FalseProxyAddress = NONE--------------------- Ok i hope that all of that can help in solving this unfortunate problem that make not happy the pilots using FS as an IFR Sim to shoot those interesting ILS approachs or VOR DME and so on... Happy new year to all and the AS team. Jean-Michel

Thanks a lot again in trying to solve the pb because I think it could help many users flying this very realistic AS.I've sent you another mail with LFSB (Basel) in the same situation and this evening I've reproduced again this with an overcast at 900 ft but I still see the ground at 4000 ft.When I look from the outside of the airplane, I can see clouds horizontally all over the airplane but at 1 or 2 Nm around and nothing exept ground for vertical vis...I can help you to reproduce the problem at any time.If you need details,... mail me or post me via forum.happy new year to AS sim flyersJean-MichelParis France
