January 5, 200422 yr I was in the process of replying to an unhappy camper's posting when, lo and behold, the thread disappeared out from under me. Anyway, just wanted to extend some words of comfort to Damian and Team. If not appropriate, then delete. In reply to the complaint, let me state emphatically that the software does work as advertised. I installed and configured it as specified in the documentation and have not had a single problem. In over 15 years of computing, I've noticed that the vast preponderance of problems are caused by 1) failure to RTFM; 2) non-standard systems (either bargain basement components or improperly matched components); 3) uninformed "hacking" (changing settings or parameters without fully understanding what those settings affect; 4) installation of the latest "neat" applet without regard to how it may affect the overall system; and finally, 5) unreasonable expectations. No accusations here; merely an observation based on extensive experience.Folks need to take a deep breath and go look up the word "simulation" in the dictionary - most will tell you it's an "approximation" of a real world phenomenon. Also remember where FS9 is installed on your PC - it's under Microsoft Games - it's a game folks, not reality. I've dealt extensively with industrial strength simulations and simulators designed for the Department of Defense and I can guarantee you none of them were "exact" replications of the real world, at prices in excess of $1B (US). Go ask a major defense contractor to build you a weather sim for $20 or $30 and they'll die laughing. Get a grip. For Damian and team - keep up the good work. Deal with real issues as diligently as you have in the past and the vast silent majority will appreciate your efforts. For unhappy customers - sorry it didn't work for you; ask for a refund. Sorry for the Dennis Miller rant; not directed at anyone personally. As Dennis says, "It's just my opinion and I could be wrong."Jerry PostKORF Jerry "Wiley" Post KORF
January 5, 200422 yr Thanks Jerry and Everyone else for your continued support. Sometimes people forget that there are real people behind every piece of software ever developed. Computers and code don't have feelings, but people do.JimActiveSky Support
January 6, 200422 yr Amen Jerry and Jim,I purchased Active Sky WXRE the day it came out and used and enjoyed it everyday and have done the same with AS2004. Although I look forward to any "magic" Damian and crew can come up with for future updates, I am using and completely enjoying AS2004 as is. And yes, as the banner says, I'm using it very successfully with the PMDG737NG
January 6, 200422 yr Hey Guys,I love AS2004 even though I have had some problems with, most are my mis-interpretions, this is the first time I have ever had the joy of using a Hi-Fi add-on and I must say im 150% impressed. I do have one more question though, where is the manual that has these settings so I can follow them and get AS working even better? Thanks Damian and Jim for the wonderful support and can't wait to use more of you add-ons.
January 6, 200422 yr Commercial Member ** Edited, changed suggestion to use ROUTE BASED WIND SMOOTHING ON and clear your route (or don't ever load one) in AS2004 before nearing your destination.Hi Brian, thanks for that...We are working on a new settings guideline based on the experience we've gained in the past few weeks, and it will be based on the MR1 fixes. This is planned for inclusion in MR1.Ideal settings until then would depend on your FSUIPC type.. Registered:All FSUIPC weather options off except Vis smoothing, graduated visibility and baro smoothingAS2004: Global Writes ON, Route Based Wind Smoothing ON, Extended Destination Winds Force OFF, Local Suppression ON at 80 miles, Update Suppression on at 5000ft, Visibility Smoothing off. Do not load a flight plan in AS2004 (ActiveRadar is ok). If you want to use the Navlog go ahead and load a route, but clear your route via NEW ROUTE, CLOSE before nearing your destination, as there is a known issue here.Unregistered:FSUIPC: Minimum Weather DefaultsAS2004: Global Writes ON, Route Based Wind Smoothing ON, Extended Destination Winds Force OFF, Local Suppression ON at 80 miles, Update Suppression on at 5000ft, Visibility Smoothing on. Do not load a flight plan in AS2004 (ActiveRadar is ok). If you want to use the Navlog go ahead and load a route, but clear your route via NEW ROUTE, CLOSE before nearing your destination, as there is a known issue here. All other options to preference...It should be noted that the ideal settings will vary widely to your tastes, there is a very subjective view here but the above would be my recommendation for maximum realism given then current status of AS2004 v1.0, FSUIPC 3.135 and FS9.Hope that helps!Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation SoftwareDeveloper of ActiveSkyhttp://www.hifisim.comhttp://www.hifisim.com/images/as2004betateam.jpg Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation Technologies

Thanks for a great product. I love especially the radar and cloud coverage, cloud levels, FS flight plan importation.
