January 9, 200422 yr Hey all, not sure if this is AS2004 related or not, but it is happening after I installed AS2004. When descending below 8000 (approx) on approach, I'm losing my Airspeed indicator. Yes PITOT heat is on, or at least it should be (the red warning light is still illuminated even after several attempts at recycling the PITOT heat). I've also tried shift/h with no luck.Has anyone who uses the Captain Sim 727 and AS2004 experienced this? Any remedies, or quite possibly what am I doing wrong ;-)Thanks!Lance
January 9, 200422 yr Thanks I'll try that, but I wanted to fly with an inch or two of ice on my wings??? ;-)
January 9, 200422 yr Well, no joy. Just checked my FSUIPC settings and I already had no checks under the icing options.
January 10, 200422 yr Commercial Member Hi Lance,Did you try turning on de-icing? Note that FS9 has a known bug with icing and the pitot/static system.Any icing over "trace" (as set by weather add-on or even default FS) will result in blocking of the pitot tube REGARDLESS of pitot heat status. On some aircraft, you MUST use de-ice AND pitot heat to actually enable pitot heat effects. Yes, totally unrealistic and an obvious bug, but there you have it.Now, anything OVER trace ice will result in instant blockage of the pitot tube regardless of pitot heat/deicing. You can get > trace ice via FSUIPC's generate random icing in clouds or occasionally via FS9 real wx download. AS2004 will also generate > trace ice for thunderstorm layers and computed "freezing rain" conditions. In this case total blockage of the systems is expected and by design. You should not be flying in this kind of weather, and a blocked pitot tube would be the LEAST damage you would encounter in such a scenario IRL.In MR1 we are implementing a "PREVENT ALL ICING" option to disable all such possibilities of icing if you so desire...-Damian Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation Technologies
