January 13, 200422 yr Just wondering if I will get better results if I import or do not import a flight plan in AS2004. Thanks, let me know.Brad
January 13, 200422 yr Commercial Member Hi Brad, good to hear from you again,Hope the patch has helpled with most of the issues you experienced. I suggest importing a flight plan so that route based wind smoothing works to settle down some of the wind transitions. But either way there may not be much of a big difference, it depends on the weather and the area, and whether or not you are using global writes. I suggest experimenting to get it to your tastes...Hope that helps!-Damian Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation Technologies
January 13, 200422 yr How is it going? I want to report a few things I have noticed with the patch. Yesterday I did two flights, KBHM-KRSW / KRSW-KMDW. I noticed a big difference. There were no cloud pop ups and the transitions were great. What a difference! Yet today I flew KPHX-KSNA / KSNA-KSLC. (All flights done in the PMDG 737). Weather was what it should have been up to KSNA. They were reporting no clouds below 20000, and 4 mile visibility. Here is what I saw at 7000: I was in the middle of what seemed to be overcast. I have all the suggested settings since the update. Also, KSLC reported winds of 008/3, which is obviously calm. On approach, I was getting winds that were stalling the 737. I cleared the weather, then refreshed it and I was getting those terrible wind shifts/shear. Could it be that the program works better on the eastern half of the US, not around mountains? I also hear that there are issues with PMDG and AS2004. Are there any things to do so I can use these fine products together? ThanksBrad
January 13, 200422 yr Commercial Member Hi Brad, things are going good!At 7000ft 4miles vis and seemingly overcast... I suspect this was just the lower 4mile visibility which should have had a ceiling of roughly 7000 since the clouds were way up high. FS9's vis seems a little heavy sometimes, I agree, and I have considered upping the vis a little, but that would be at the expense of invalid FS ATIS reports that don't match AS2004's reports. Perhaps an option in the future..If you clear the wx then refresh, while airborne, the global layer and wind smoothing features may not activate correctly. This is not recommended, and may be why you had strong wind shifts. As to why the winds were stalling the 737, I don't know, what were the winds aloft saying? If the winds were high there could have been associated turbulence... not uncommon for upper winds to be much stronger than surface, especially in mountainous terrain...
