January 17, 200422 yr I finally got ActiveRadar installed (although the ActiveRadarConnecter2.exe failed and I had to manually move the files across as per an earlier post I found in this forum). Installed FSUIPC is 3.14 (Registered), WideFS 6.101; default INI file with the sole exception of the items recommended at the top of this forum (baro and visibility smoothing on)ActiveRadar loads, but I do not have any precip returns in either Basic or Composite mode on the Situation dislpay. The METAR at KSEA at the time was:KSEA 130256Z 16003KT 3SM -RA BR SCT012 OVC014 06/06 A3014 RMK AO2 SLP210 P0005 60015 T00610061 51023The wind indicator was correctly showing the winds to be 160 and 3 knots. When I turn the airport/labels on, I can clearly see I am positioned at KSEA.When I go into weather planning and load a flight plan, I get "weather not available" displayed in red underneath every waypoint. I tried Update All - and that doesn't seem to work either - the button appears to be "stuck permanently ON" and is unclickable. I can verify that the plan is in fact loaded as it too appears on the Situation display. Note, this same plan was *previously* loaded into AS2004. If I switch to Tracking mode and select Surface. In the Local Information window, the nearest station says (1000nm) and gives me some totally off the mark weather like 271 at 29, 20.00 SM, 29.92, 4/-6, unlimited, precip: none. Clicking on the Clouds button reveals no cloud data.Down below in the flight tracking, I can see TAF data displayed for waypoints in my flight plan. I can not, however, see any data for any waypoint on the WX tab. Like the other screen - I am unable to click the "Update" button - it appears to be permanently "stuck ON".Outside the aircraft it's raining to beat the band, but there are no radar returns.I have verified that Enable Radar is CHECKED and Enable Radar Details is CHECKED. Alt. Radar Render is UNCHECKED (although i did try toggling this without any luck). I am out of ideas.JUpdate: Tried 2 different flight plans just for giggles without success. Both were created in the default FS flight planner.Update: ActiveSky version is 1.01a2
January 17, 200422 yr Load the flightplan into FS as though you were activating FS ATC. Once loaded save the plan and overwrite the existing flightplan file. Then load the flightplan into the radar and it should work OK.I get the plan to load but don't get any radar returns. Don't really care either as it is not something I am overly interested in having displayed - not at present anywayAndy b Andy Brockbank
January 17, 200422 yr >I get the plan to load but don't get any radar returns. Thanks, Andy, but as I mention in my original post - I get the plan to load just fine - but the precip. radar returns (basic or composite) are completely absent from the display.
January 17, 200422 yr In FS9: Alt - F - PLoad flightplan SAVE AND OVERWRITE the flightplan in FS9.Now you can click OK and open the flightplan in the radar of AS2004.http://www.hifisim.com/images/as2004betateam.jpgPatrick/EBBR Regards, patrickHiFi Technologies Apha TesterFDC/PFE 3 Beta TesterAivlaSoft EFB Alpha Tester
January 17, 200422 yr I would suggest a re-install. Sounds like the weather data is not getting across your network.Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Support
January 17, 200422 yr I think I got it working (sort of) - the radar returns are not always consistent with the weather (i.e. it was raining cats and dogs, but the radar showed no precip all around me within a 25 mile radius - outside of that radius it showed heavy rain - not sure what's up with that), but at least I'm getting something on the scope. I reinstalled AS2004 on BOTH the WideFS and FS machines, and was able to get the connector to install properly. Of course, after I did that, the 1.01a2 update failed to install on my FS machine because the WideFS connector installer had altered the local registry for the install path to point to the networked drive. So I had to go hack the registry up to get the 1.01 update to take. All in all, the installers for this product are in a pretty sad state of affairs - certainly not on the level I would expect of a commercial product. I hope you spend some serious cycles testing your installers on a variety of configurations - the installer is always your customers' first impression of the product.Update: I believe the 1.01a2 update breaks Active Radar. It was working (aside from the inconsistencies I described earlier) before I patched it.
January 17, 200422 yr Scratch the remark about 1.01a2 breaking Active Radar. There is something wierd going on with the installers that keeps altering the path in the registry - grrr. It seems as if the install path (on the FS box) gets whacked, ActiveRadar won't communicate correctly with WideFS. Hand editing this entry to point to MYWIDEFSBOXC$Program FilesActiveSky 2004ModulesActiveSky2004 seems to do the trick.Very wierd.Anyway - seems to be working now.
