January 21, 200422 yr Hi,I have read the thread below (re the new connector program) and have succesfully installed the new connector program (by following the install instructions to the letter) on my Wide FS PC.The problem I have is that when I restart my PCs (ie the following evening to the install after turning both machines off), Active Radar does not seem to connect to ActiveSky on my WideFS PC.For info, WideFS is connected to FS PC; ActiveSky on WideFS PC has picked up FS, connected, and FS9 is displaying the weather just fine. It's just that Active Radar is not displaying the correct weather- the best it can muster is a station 1000nm away!If I re-run the new Connector Program then the Active radar works, but surely it should not be necessary to do this every time you re-start?On theing to note is that I also have ActiveSky installed (but not being used) on my FS PC. I'll remove it and see if that helps...Anybody help? Thanks in advance!
January 22, 200422 yr Commercial Member Hi, to add further,ActiveSky2004 should NOT be installed on the main FS machine when using the connector program and a WideFS setup. This will most certainly break things, it is not designed to work this way.AS2004 needs to go on the WideFS machine only, then the connector program runs on the FS machine... If you have installed AS2004 on the FS machine and then later want to go the WideFS route, UNINSTALL AS2004 from the FS machine first.Sorry all of this was not clear in the documentation, we will be working on that..-Damian Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation Technologies
January 22, 200422 yr Commercial Member Hi, also, after removing AS2004 from the FS machine, re-run the connector program...Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation SoftwareDeveloper of ActiveSkyhttp://www.hifisim.comhttp://www.hifisim.com/images/as2004betateam.jpg Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation Technologies
January 31, 200422 yr Hi- thanks for the support.I have now removed ActiveSky from my FS9 machine and re-run the connector program. (I had to manually copy across the .DLL and the ActiveRadar director, as suggested in the Manual).Immediately after running the connector program, the radar works fine. However, following a re-boot, it again seems to refuse to connect to ActiveSky (ie it displays that the 'nearest station' is 1000nm away).I therefore have to run the connector program again. Please can anyone help with a suggestion as to where this problem is coming from? Thanks
January 31, 200422 yr Commercial Member Hi, sounds like an FSUIPC registration problem. ActiveRadar isn't getting access to FSUIPC variables, otherwise it would show the correct closest station. This process doesn't talk to AS2004 at all (only for actual wx data).I assume you have registered FSUIPC and WideFS properly? Could I get an FSUIPC log (wx and misc) while ActiveRadar runs for a couple minutes?Strange that it works one session after Connector install.. The only change other than file copies is the write of the AS2004 install path registry key.Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation SoftwareDeveloper of ActiveSkyhttp://www.hifisim.comhttp://www.hifisim.com/images/as2004betateam.jpg Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation Technologies
February 1, 200422 yr Hi DamianI have a full registered version of FSUIPC... anyway, looks like it is working fine now. Not sure what I've changed other than to do the full re-install on both machines again. Thank you for your support!
February 23, 200422 yr Hi, Damian:This seems to be similar to the earlier problem that I was having when using unregistered FSUIPC. If you recall, I was able to get get ActiveRadar to be recognized by FSUIPC by registering it manually into FSUIPC using "5G3E UFHO BQE4". HOWEVER, . . .I am once again having the same problem mentioned here of the "1000" site and not getting current local weather. Consequently, my radar does not reflect current conditions. This has happened after downloading the latest version. Keep in mind, I WAS getting accurate radar returns and localization prior to the latest version if I manually registered activeradar.dll each time I launched FS9. Now, even manually registering activeradar.dll does not remedy the situation. I am stuck with no ActiveRadar again.Hope this info helps.Wilson
