January 31, 200422 yr First, does this product work with Chris Willis' performance clouds? I don't want to kill framerates as I already run MyTraffic and have lost enough already. Second, is it in any way integrated into the existing product? I already have enough things I need to leave the game for in order to setup outside and it's often redundant. I'd much prefer a solution that is as nearly integrated into the experience as MS' own weather.
January 31, 200422 yr Yes AS2004 is fully compatible with the Chris Willis Cloud sets.As to your second question, if you mean can AS2004 be accessed via the FS2004 menu bar, then I am afraid it cannot. AS2004 runs as a seperate application.
January 31, 200422 yr There are some utilities here at AVSIM that will start up multiple external programs and start FS with a single mouse click. Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Support
January 31, 200422 yr Commercial Member Hi,To add to this.. make sure you use the 32bit cloud set from FSW... this way you can use render to texture OFF and get better performance and reduction of flickers..Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation SoftwareDeveloper of ActiveSkyhttp://www.hifisim.comhttp://www.hifisim.com/images/as2004betateam.jpg Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation Technologies
January 31, 200422 yr Commercial Member Also, ActiveRadar IS integrated in FS as a module, and it has texture weather tracking and visual radar display as well as some other nice features. The main AS2004 interface won't be available directly in FS (as it is an external application) but after planning your flight/briefing the wx you generally don't ever need to go back... ActiveRadar will give you all the info you need. You can also print AS2004 detailed wx report/navlog.Hope that helps!Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation SoftwareDeveloper of ActiveSkyhttp://www.hifisim.comhttp://www.hifisim.com/images/as2004betateam.jpg Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation Technologies
January 31, 200422 yr Okay, a couple other questions come to mind:First, what is FSW? Sorry, I pretty much hang out of SimFlight Network, here and Flightsim.com.Second, what I mean is that I really don't want to have to do things multiple times especially if it means having to run multiple programs to get FS going properly.I guess what I'm getting at is regarding setup. In Flight Simulator I have it setup so I can hit just one button to have it go get the "real" weather and away I go. If I have to launch AS2004, then tell it where I'm going to fly, then launch Flight Simulator, tell it where I'm going to fly, that's not optimal as now I've had to do double work. It'd be optimal to have a way to trigger AS2004 to load and have it pick up where I'm flying and load the appropriate weather.I'm already going to cut back now as I have to tell FS Nav where I'm flying, Radar Contact where I'm flying and at times the Garmin GPS where I'm flying. I have very little interest in adding to that list.
