February 24, 200422 yr First, a question: Anyone who is getting frequent "cloud pops" in FS9 with AS2k4 - do you have "smooth wind changes near aircraft" enabled in FSUIPC?Here's why I ask - and please tell me if you can duplicate the following: Start FS9 - DO NOT START AS2004. Load a flight, go to the Modules, FSUIPC menu. Be sure that the "smooth wind changes near aircraft" check box is clear (disabled). Now, select the weather theme "Fair Weather" and fly for a bit - just be sure you've got some low scattered clouds. Go to the Modules, FSUIPC menu. ENABLE "smooth wind changes near aircraft". After a few seconds, the low scattered clouds disappear on my PC, and the theme is deselected, and weather is now "user defined". Is this a source of the disappearing clouds act for many of you? Is this something obvious and documented in Pete's FSUIPC docs that I've overlooked? Clearly, if some of you can duplicate, this is a situation where clouds are disappearing, and it has nothing to do with AS2004.Love to hear what you all have to say!Best,sg [email protected] | 32gb RAM | EVGA GTX1080 8gb | Mostly P3Dv5 (also IL2:BoX, DCS, XP11)
February 24, 200422 yr Author I hate replying to myself. I can't even duplicate this as described above :(!What I had done previously was quit AS2004 during a flight because real-world visibility was too low. I loaded the "Fair Weather" theme, and observed the cloud disappearance upon toggling "smooth winds near aircraft" box in FSUIPC. Maybe the key was having AS2004 running first?Something to consider, anyhow. I've never had "smooth winds near aircraft" enabled, and rarely see cloud pops. Still like to hear what you all see.Best,sg [email protected] | 32gb RAM | EVGA GTX1080 8gb | Mostly P3Dv5 (also IL2:BoX, DCS, XP11)
