ActiveRadar MR1 - Bogus Radar Returns

Featured Replies

I'm sitting on the tarmac with low clouds, < 3mi visibility, and rain pouring down around my ears. AR shows precipitation about 100 miles in the distance, but nothing overhead. The tracking screen correctly shows my position, wind direction and wind speed. Barometric pressure is 29.92 (and incorrect). Temperature reports 0/0 (bogus), ceiling unlimited (obviously bogus) and precipiptation: none (very bogus). The TAF for the nearest station correctly matches what is reported by ActiveSky; I am confident that ActiveRadar and AS2K4 are, in fact, communicating (albeit badly).I can't get AR to give me sane data, no matter what I try.JPS. Using WideFS

Hi,It appears AR cannot find the data (export_data.rad) and is giving you default/zeroed wx information instead. First thing to check is that you are indeed loading a flight plan into AS2004 and AR to make sure the station content data matches.Second thing, TAF processing, if enabled, can cause consistency issues. Your issues seem a bit extreme for this to be the case but its worth mentioning.Lastly, there could be an installation issue. Since you are using WideFS, this could very well be the problem. Did ActiveRadarConnector2 run ok without any errors? What's the drive letter and folder names you are using? Permissions OK? Mapping the ROOT drive and not a sub folder correctly? Have you tried a re-install?Please feel free to e-mail me directly for further troubleshooting and resolution of this! Thanks! [email protected]

It appears to be TAF processing. Turning it off fixed the problem. Turning it back on again, caused the pressure, temperature, ceiling, and precipitation to revert to the "uninitialized" defaults that I mentioned in my original post.

Hi,Thanks for the report. I will have a closer look at this. You should not be getting such a dramatic loss of data with TAF processing. It sounds like the AR module may be having trouble with the "TAF ELEMENT" modification of the METAR string or the actual data in the reports. Can you send me your current_wx_snapshot.txt and your flight plan at your convenience? It would help me to duplicate (hopefully!). Thanks!-Damian
